I don't think the power goes off when you close the glove box, or the flashlights would never get charged. As far as having the wire stick out while closed, you should be able to route it down the back if it won't fit out the front or side.

ok, that's what I needed to know. Need a place for the wife to plug in her PDA cell, those things run the batteries down quick when surfing the web. I intend to plug it in and close it in the glove box, since I'll be driving at night. I just don't want to have wires across the console.

I have one - I use it with the glovebox closed all the time.
