UPDATED! For sale, a Getrag 265 [not 260] (5spd of course) from an '85 635csi
Car had aprox 200K miles but engine runs strong! Manual transmission is best you'll come across. History unknown.
Perfect notchy precise shifting. This thing is in PERFECT condition.
This is the most desireable transmission for BMWs

yeah I've never heard of used bmw transmissions selling for 2500, atleast not for e36s, something I'm not getting?

The most reliable transmission Getrag ever built. (Arguement in pursuit)
This trans has 200K miles on it (unless I'm horribly mistaken) and it shows no wear.
I do not kid, it shifts better than some NEW BMWs.
Go look on Ebaymotors.com for the Getrag 260... now 2500 might be rebuilt price so make your best offer accordingly.

Getrag 260s are the transmission they put in E24s and E30s which are very abundant and sell pretty cheap. I think you have this transmission confused with a Getrag 265 Dogleg tranny.

That is just a standard getrag 265. Seen coupled with the m30. Or with the s14 with the correct bellhousing. Worth 300$ max in excellent condition.
The getrag 260 is the standard e30/e28 transmission. Also worth 300$ in perfect condition.

It's still my fav transmission, I'm holding on to it rather than selling.
I'm not kidding, this thing is the best used BMW transmission I've ever driven.
(Yes, I know what I'm talking about.)
About all this other stuff... and the high price? I was sold lies.
