Good evening,

my rear, right door got locked somehow and so far, I can't open it. Diler here in Phoenix told me that most likely door actuator is bad but as far as I know, it can be replaced only with open door. I tried removing door panel, playing with that metal rod inside but still can't do nothing. If anybody has any idea how can I fix this I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks!

At the top of this page is the 'Search' feature. I used it and entered 'rear door locked' and it brought up several threads. The unfortunate part is: No one had a solution in all the threads. You might try using the feature with different wording, though. What did seem to be a constant however, was the 'door actuator'. Someone even stated that once the panel was off, and they got inside and started fiddling around, they bumped the actuator and it worked, but it is a slim lead, indeed.

You've got a lot of brothers down in Phoenix...maybe one of them can pop in here and give you a tip. I think I once heard of a method to synchronize your keyless entry system. Let me look around.....what year is your 740, BTW. You should include that in your profile....

If you have an e38, navigate to www.e38.org and look over there. It's the bible for e38.org drivers (when Qsilver7 is not up and active on forum).

I looked on e38.org and there was an article about door actuator replacement, and it turned out that the guy's actuator had actually popped out of its restraint and simply reseating it solved the problem. Possibly your actuator has become unseated from too energetic door closings??

As a last resort, you might consider disconnecting one of the battery terminals overnight and in the morning reconnect. Try actuating the locks with your key again and see what happens. Worst case scenario, you willl have to reset your date/time feature and your stored radio stations.

Thanks Jake, I'll try some of the steps you suggested.

Car is '95, with 152K on it.
