I've recently purchased a 2001 740iL with an after market G.E. (General Electric) warranty, and need to get some things serviced, ie;

Navigation, Suspension, Audio system, Seat switches, Rearview mirror, Power Steering...

So... I'm in need of a good mechanic in the Los Angeles (Hollywood) area.

Here's a list of shops I've gathered off this site and others. Any comments, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, (dealers included).

FYI - I'm posting this in the 7 Series Forum and in the Regional Forum as well, to get most feedback possible.

Many thanks for any help anyone can give,
Christopher

Chris,
Not sure if you have seen this thread:

Not specific to LA though but worth looking into.

I would recommend 'The M Shop' in Eagle Rock near Glendale, or Windigo Independent BMW in Anaheim. Both honest, quality places in my experience and from what I've heard.

Thanks Kromdom,

Yeah I got confirmation on the first shops I posted on this list with that bimmerboard thread of Indy Mechanics.

Just trying to find out which ones to dealers to avoid, and which Indies are best.

Specifically since my electronics are out (stereo goes off after three minutes, then I've got to turn it off & then on again to get sound again, and the Nav screen seems like it's only getting 'fuzz' signal)

Platinum4Life wrote this in the thread that I was asking about what type of power steering fluid to use. But I never got the names of his suggestions, or which Dealer to avoid (which I want for sure!).

Christopher, what part of LA are you in? There are a number of good indys in the SF Valley I can recommend if in fact you are in the valley. There is also one Dealer I would NEVER go to.

Platinum4Life

FYI I'm in Hollywood, but will travel to who's best, honest, and fair priced (what ever that means).

Khiladi1020,

Thanks. That seems to be where things are pointing me towards, and only about fifteen minutes from my house, so that's a bonus as well.

Just found an add on a website that says if you mention the websites name upon service, The M Shop will give you a free rental drive for the day. Would post it, but don't have that privilege yet.

Cheers,
Chris

Sweet I didn't know about that. If you go there soon, see if they are still honoring that.

just posted from the bimmerboard....

German Autosport is a good shop. Its in santa monica and they charge very reasonable prices. Talk to roberto he is the owner.

They have done brakes, suspension, a heater core, oil changes front suspension bushings for me.

Called up today and they said they were, but I'm going to double check when & if I call to schedule an appointment with them.

Still waiting to get some more feedback here about who's a trustworthy and talented mechanic around LA...
