what i learned today, first time at a rainy infineon:
1. need to be extra careful exiting turn 2 and apexing 10
2. in heavy rain, a lot of water flows and/or stands on the straight before 7, apex at 10 and by 1

3. on the first lap, first session in rain, some of us in group 3 (intermed), incl me, thought we were going slow enough until we spun. by session end, i think 6 of us went off, one into the tire wall after 3a.

4. i was very glad i had full tread street tires (245 yoko neova, bridge re01r) but even so i hydroplaned a bit.

on the first lap, third session the rain was light so puddles were much smaller than in the prior, heavily raining session. unfortunately it was the first time i saw a car contact another car in hpde. a car passing on the straight going to 7 spun and bumped the car being passed, which then spun and hit the wall fairly hard w/ the front end. luckily the driver seemed ok aside from harness burn.

Yipes! Glad you and the car came back in one piece.

Infineon is no joke when it's wet!

Here's a video showing the lake that can form at the bottom of the carousel:

looks like you took the normal straight into 7 (~2:22 in vid) so it must not have been heavily raining then. today there was deep water in that area.

oh i forgot to mention that in heavy rain, a puddle/river crosses the track at turn 1, soon after the main straight. i hydroplaned there as well.

in heavy rain, i found it hard to avoid a bit of hydroplaning at turn 1, coming into 7, and exiting 10.

I completely agree. I wrecked a russell formula mazda hitting that damn RIVER that goes across the track in T10 racing in the rain last year :eyecrazy

Turn 10: A River Runs Through It

That river picked up my lardass E46 M3 going 40mph on street tires and moved it 6" laterally! Like I said, no joke!

I was there in group3 and my Delphin Grey E30 #128. I am glad to now be in group4! I used the opportunity to work on my line as we were under double yellows ALOT. While the track was open I had alot of fun following a C5 vette and a Porsche 4. We were the fastest and cleanest runners in group 3. That is until the P-car decided to pass a 911 between 7 and 8...DOH! Anyways I had a great time and was able to test the limits of the car at a slower speed.

We also had 2 specE30 cars at the event and 3 potential car builders / drivers.
