Hi guys,

Has anyone else tried the Swissol Concorso wax? I've tried a lot of different waxes over the past few years, and of course some are better than others (or should I say some are better suited to my car than others), but this Concorso brings out a depth and clarity of colour that i've never seen before in my car, I love it! I've been using it exclusively for the past 6 months. It's comparatively expensive (it costs me about $AUD300 for a small tub, which is about $USD230), but that small tub lasts a long time, I estimate that I will get about 15 applications out of the tub.

It's one of those carnauba waxes that you need to apply with your bare hands, ie. you don't use an applicator, which is a good thing. It needs the body heat from your hands to activate, but it also means that you don't waste it by loading up an applicator pad. I put on another coat yesterday, and I even put it on my wheels instead of using wheel wax, time will tell how effective that is.

I'd post some pics so that you can see the results, but I don't have enough posts yet and am not allowed to post URL's or pictures, so i'll post some when I have permission.

Does anybody else use it?

John

EDIT:

Here's some pics of the Concorso:

Get those pictures posted quickly John, I'm curious to see the results.
Swissol has a great reputation but not many have actually used that version, and at $250 usd, I can understand why.
I have a tub of Pinnacle and I thought it was pricy but it doesn't hold a candle to your Swissol Concourse.
The hand application is interesting too. Some of the Zymol waxes and Victoria wax recommend hand application also. The solvents in them must be safe for humans and as an aside, you don't want to apply all waxes by hand for that very reason. Others include solvents that aren't bio-friendly and are/can be absorbed through the skin.
As a final thought, examine your work very carefully when you're done. Some guys have really rough skin and have reported they've added marring with a hand application. A buddy in construction has skin like sandpaper but my hands are as soft as a baby's bottom so Swissol would be a natural for me, assuming I won a lottery.
Get those pics up asap,

LOL, I just tried to send you a PM to send you a link to the pics, but I'm not allowed to do that either :-) Somebody else mentioned that I need 20 to 25 posts before I can post pics, hopefully I'll get there within the next month or so, and i'll post pics then.

I've got pretty soft hands too (I work in IT), so no problems with marring here.......

Maybe just try spelling it out here like in 'bobsyeruncle dot com', (a reference to Robert Peel). That might do it, and by the way, the Apollo Theatre looks wonderful, I could live there quite comfortably. Teasing of course.

Cool, so you found my website :-)

Go to the home page of my website, and add /M5/Concorso to the URL, and the good Mr Peel will indeed end up being a sibling of your father.

abrcrombe (thanks) in the previous message had the link done up just fine so I used his link.
The M5 looks great and I see it's a colour I don't see a lot of here in North America. It's a subtle purple, reminds me of the bing cherry colour, and shows highlights well. What's the official name of the colour?
What tire dressing are you using in those photos, they look sharp too.

Thanks guys,

The car is Macau Blue (BMW Paint code #250), you don't see it around very often. I think it was an M5 specific color, but i'm not 100% sure on that. The color changes from Black, to Charcoal, to purple, to dark brown, depending on the light.

I just use Meguiars NXT Tire Shine (spray on), it's easy to apply, and it lasts for ages.

Thanks abrcrombe for posting the link

You can definitely see the purple in the new pictures... still looks awesome!

After John posted the second set of pics I thought I was going nuts. The M5 looked deep blue and perfect yet I thought my first looks suggested deep purple so I had to go back and verify my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. I know John explained how that colour could vary but I had to go look myself again.
Maybe John's just a magician with his Swissol. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hahahaha, Thanks John. I'm sorry to have to tell you though that i'm just a beginner when it comes to detailing, i've still got a lot to learn. Any magic comes in that expensive little tub of wax.......

Looking good, you might want to consider getting Latex or Nitrile gloves for your hands.

Why, what do they do?

Thanks

Protect your hands when you directly apply Waxes/Sealants, it helps keep all the heavy chemicals from hurting your skin.
