Hi guys,
Just had a cool run in with a new looking z tonight- I've been wanting to run one of these for awhile given that they seem to be marginally faster then an e36 M, and therefore a wonderful challenge! This particular specimen was black with some sort of rims, couldn't tell what type... the car looked great though and appeared to be relatively new.
So, on to the fun... Making a left turn from crown valley onto antonio (for the OC locals) the driver of the z gunned it as soon as he straightened out from the turn. I didn't realize it was on given that he was on his cell phone at the light- for all I know he was probably driving an automatic now that I think about it :(. I gunned it when I heard his exhaust and stayed very close with him, but he definitely got a good jump on me. Even then, as I shifted into third it looked like he was slowly gaining the entire time. We went to the top of third and I slowwwwwwlllyyyy started reeling him in. We didn't get to wind it out, as unfortunately for him, a big ole' van pulled out into the street in front of him, causing him to brake abruptly and careen into my lane, at which point I passed the van and turned right onto oso.. he continued down antonio on his merry way!
So, thoughts? Should I have pulled harder? Should he have pulled harder? I can't wait to race one of those things again, what a blast. Thanks for reading!
