Ok guys, yesterday was a local meet in the LA area where mostly friends of ours meet up, I call a few friends and decided to roll with 3 cars, my friends modded fully modded WRX, a lightly modded WRX wagon and my friends GTI. We get to the meet and nothing to special when our friend calls to go to la canada starbucks meet, so we take a quick stop and greet a few people and give a few rides out to friends etc, at this time we decide to head back, when we arrived back there were alot of really awesome cars, swapped 240s alot quick hondas , some nice g35s etc etc among them was my friend with his evo 9 that has dowpipe, big FMIC, boost controller, full 3 inch and hks, dumped on volk gt37s and maybe more mods?? also there was a very nice E39 M5 black with BBS LMs that was very nice looking. After chatting around we all hop on the freeway and cars are matching up to do quickie runs etc etc. im keeping it kool just mainly watching most of my friends run as ive ran most of them with success, suddenly guess who comes chasing me ? thats right the M5 he keeps it right next to me and I think "high roll= me being dinner)" I hear him downshift and now hes ready to go I bring it into 3rd at 75ish and jump maybe half a car 3rd goes very quick and 4th hes right next to as 4th ends and we had to brake for a van in front, I want one more and guy comes again and lowers his window with a look of "WTF" haha I try and take it a little more down and we go from 2nd this time..honk honk honk. both cars jump with all the torque 3rd comes, im maybe 2 bumpers ahead but not gaining anything at top of third its dead even but I would hear him and pull like 1 bumper every time at top of 4th we are dead dead even and then my horrible 5th comes and he pulls about 1 1/5 cars in 5th( i have the stock 3.15 diff FTL). Everyone exits and he comes next to me with his window down with a look that ill never forget, "damn that thing is quick man" I asked what he had full exhaust, intake, chip. He asked what I had but I couldnt tell him all my mods because of green light..as he headed back on the freeway he went home and my friend came spitting (BOV) next to me until I finally got tired and DS in 3rd again, I thought I was prob going to loose this one we both take off me nailing every shift smoothly and consistent and he could not close my 2 car gap I put on him, shocked and enraged he comes again beggin for one more against the bavarian animal, ofcourse im ready for another round after that.. he wants a 2nd roll.. I agree.. 3 honk.. were off me instantlly putting 1/4 car 3rd I pull to 1 car and he holds it at top of 3rd and now 4th again instantly another 1/2 car and we shut em down.. with the smell of a beaten and humiliated EVO 9 ..

also CosmossM3 was with me the whole time and right next to me so he can chime in here as well..

*EVO had 2 passengers
*M5 had a co-pilot too

BEFORE YOU EVEN CALL BS I am fully aware of what both of those cars can do and I was a bit shocked I did that good with them. My car is NOT stock at all.. some of mods power mods are 3.2 s52 swap,m50 mani,stromung,straight pipes,custom tune, 3.5 HFM, injectors, uuc8.5 flywheel m5 clutch, AC removed, lightly gutted, turner pullies, Real gruppe M intake, Iridium plugs,





CLIFFS-night out with friends. e36M3 door to door with lightlly modded e39 M5 and modded EVO 9 gets ownd by e36 M3 .

those are pretty much the mods that I am planning on doing, except for the pullies and the flywheel, so I am happy to hear that you are putting down good power. Nice runs.

Are you saying he is right next to you at the end of fourth for both of you or just end of fourth for you??? If he is at the end of fourth for a E39 M5... he should be in 135-140+ territory depending on his mods. I am not going to call BS, but I am not so sure on when he pulled on you, you are making it sound alittle to close to call.

yup hes right next to me at the end of MY 4th, i dunno if he was in his 5th or not but from 2nd to end of my 4th were side by side... what do you mean he should be at 135-140 depending on his mods? the only thing that would affect his speed is prob a higher redline(chip) or a DIFF..he pulled a little when I switched to 5th 1. because im scared when switching to 5th (money shifted like that lol) and 2 my 5th is really long especially with a 3.15 .

what are your dyno numbers? i have all the same except for the flywheel. making 240 whp. i ran my buddy in his stock evo 9 and we were even till 100mph and i started to pull. maby its b/c i cracked my head 5 days later, and it was already leeking..?

EDIT : After trying to decipher the OP I just found that the m5 had full exhaust. Poor guy, $10K in mods and he still can't spank a e36 with bolt ons.

yes I am on stock cams .. and evo is venting to atmosphere correct.. that car with the right tune and correct parts should have ate me .. but once I install the gt35 well see how my other friends gt35 evo does.. if not I will do the thing you will all hate me for.. ls1 or 2jzgtte..sorry..

im comtemplating selling my 328 IS and my other M3 and just buy the King og the highway the mk4 supra TT 6spd

an evo 9 with those mods should be a low 12 second car at 110+ plus.

my friend with an 06 evo 9 with only a manual boost controller, turboback, and a tune put down 327awhp.

I chose not to comment on the race because anything can happen (and the 'driver mod' isn't equipped in all cars).

hey by the way whos supras are those in the back? The Silver one is Greg's (GSC). The Red one belongs to a customer. If I owned one, it would be kept under 450whp and would not have a tilton triple carbon clutch in it. I couldn't imagine driving the GSC Supra back and forth to work. SUMMAb1tch is way loud (4" exhaust) and it's a true "all or none" clutch.

nice runs! the e36's with your mods are pretty damn quick, but i'm still suprised you kept up with the m5 that good :eek:

especially if he has FULL exhaust, i know the stock headers on m5's are so restrictive, they are ugly to look at. but with the right setup/tuning on the m5 it could have been a slightly different outcome.

yeah, i dont call BS at wll with your mods... coming from a previous evo owner. if hes tuned, and routes that hks back into the intake, it would be a different race. your m3 on a gt35r, hes ganna need a 35r at least.

I'm pretty sure this car is as fast or faster than an M5, I totally belevie. You really need to race Jworms, both cars are similar in performance and mods from what it seems. Lets see the M3 at about 3000lbs(if your lightened) with about 245-250whp vs m5 4000lbs 330-340 whp, it seems the power to wieght ratio is close enough. Put some cams in that car and I'd say you could easily get into mid 12's...

let me know when you and jworms go at it I will be camera or chase car if you need one..

i have a feeling spitvenom is up for allot of poonage. all the drivers pruposing a race can drive. this will be a good test of your cars performance. you should definately set something up. id love to see you keep up/beat an M5 or a modded evo.

and I care because?? If I cared that much about how quick my car is in a straight line I would sell my other M3 and turbo or LS1 already.. or I can just run whatever against my hatch but im sure NO M3 can run 11s all motor can they? .. it is just what it is a kills story something that I meself was shocked because those cars should have won. no worries. i just want to see you run the cars that have purposed to race. i mean its all in good fun. personnaly id really like to see how you stack up with J worms E36M. he has less mods then you do but his car is very fast. i cant imagine E36's getting much faster. like i said i would love to see it.

The only thing that would change is the time it would take to spool, between gear shifts/throttle lifts. When you roll onto the throttle, you're going to have to spool it whether you vent to the atmosphere (BOV) or vent back to your intake (wastegate). If you shift at/near redline, the engine should be at at least 4,000rpm in the next gear. It shouldn't take long AT ALL to get a stock turbo up to speed when the engine is under full throttle at 4,000rpm.

Manual Boost Controllers (MBCs) are a different game. If the Evo IX he raced didn't have one, I can see the outcome. A Manual Boost Controller allows you to increase the air pressure created by the turbo. An additional 2-3psi is HUGE as far as horsepower gains are concerned. However, it's hard to imagine that an Evo IX with full plumbing work wouldn't include an MBC. Seems like a waste, to me.

I'm only somewhat familiar with chassis designations. They run the inline-6 from the E46. The V8s were eliminated years ago due to a change in rules.

No...I was talking about a VTA BOV. We have MAFS on our stock evos, not MAPS like a lot of the other turbo set-ups.
