This was a few months back, but eh, why not.

I was out with my girlfriend on a nice summer night, went out to get some icecream at a popular local fast food place (Jumpin Jacks for anyone in the area). We get there and I park way out at the end of the lot, as soon as I get out of the car a kid in a Dodge something walks all the way out just to say "damn! nice car!"

As I walk closer I notice on the otherside of the building a red F355, parked next to a blue Viper, parked next to a FnF Civic. Damn... parked on the wrong side. While we're eating the Viper leaves in a rumble of exhaust and cloud of white smoke, followed by the Civic in a rumble of exhaust, but not really any smoke at all. My girlfriend starts complaining about a headache...

I finish my icecream, my girlfriend throws hers out, and we head to the car. I notice another guy and a girl doing the same towards the Ferrari. We drive out of the exit and end up right behind them on the two lane road at a light, both have our left turn signals on to hit the 4 lane road with stop lights :devillook Green light, we both take off through the intersection, I hit a little bit of power oversteer and stayed right behind him, but only for 20 or 30 yards till the next light. Hes in the right lane, I'm in the left; he starts revving, looks over, gives me a smile and points forward. I start laughing and return revs.

My girlfriend then says "I swear to God Russell, my head is killing me if you race him I'm going to throw up all over your car." Light green, FOOM the 355 is off with the low wheel sping launch of a pro and I'm left puttering along in low gear. :(

Oh what could have been if I had dumped that b**** sooner. :rofl

Straight line the E39 M5 will tear up the 308, 328, 348 - on par with a F355. In the twisties the Ferrari's will run away from the M5 unless the M has suspension work done.

+1 to above. My father and I have done some runs on the freeway. His 355 and my M5 are even. I would say from a standing start I might even take him.

That particular photo is mildly photoshopped to eliminate stopsign and amber corners and blackout the grill (both mods I ended up doing after this photoshop b/c it looked good). Here is another one untouched. I'm going to have to report that sob....anyone know how or have a link??

355's sound amazing, I got to go on a cruise with one. They are very fast.

Actually it is, but not by me. The gentleman who did the photoshop work is from the Netherlands and he put his copyright on it.

Its really not a big deal to me, just annoying that people do that type of thing.

The Ferraris are true sports cars while the M5 is not, one thing the M5 has over them is seats for five and can be a practical daily driver. My 03 M5 is my daily driver now and I get a grind on my face each and every time I get in and out of her. However, there are intangibles that incite more passion when you drive a true sports car. The sound of that Ferrari is truely amazing.

lol I would have, but she actually did have a habit of throwing up from her headaches and I really didn't want to have to clean everything in the car.

I'm surprised that every says an E39 could keep up with a 355, good to know and makes me appreciate the car that much more.

As for sports car vs daily car, given the option of only having one car, I'd pick the M5 every time. If I could have two cars, it would still be a tough choice. After driving an e36 vert for a year, even with other cars available it was annoying sometimes.

Sniz: are those volutions 18's or 19's. they look huge but it could just be the drop you have? What suspension are you running?

How much of a drop did the evolve springs give you? more than 1.2 inches? (which is what my eibachs are supposed to)

How much did the sways do for handling? Or did you have them installed at the same time as the springs so you couldn't tell what did what. Dare I ask... do you have them for sale?

Just got my 95 325is in november, it is white and has full window tint, cant say it compares to your cars though lol. Ill keep an eye out for you.

My 355 used to run dead even with my M3.
