Hey,

I totalled my 325i this fall and want to resurrect it. I've taken out everything: engine, tranny, interior, dash, wheels, etc and am looking for a donor car. I found an 88 and 91 325ix one town over which would be really badass, and was wondering the logisitcs of the swap. What do I need to do/get differently than if I was just swapping into another 325i or is?

Thanks,

Kyle

i would imagine the engine is identical. As long as you are not trying to convert your car to all wheel drive it shouldn't be too difficult.

The oil pan on the ix has a hole through so you can run the axles. Its not the same. And the previous comment is wrong. Do a little more research on it. Not really familiar iwth the ix but i do know that. You dont mention whether or not the donar is e36 or e30. That makes a difference too.
Call Treehouse Racing (http://www.treehouseracing.com).. we deal almost exclusively with e30/e36 swaps. We also make conversion wiring harnesses that are plug and play. Ask for Jon. (shameless plug)
Best bet is to find a 87-91 318. You're going to need a 5 series oil pan and brake booster and a few other odds and ends if its e36 engine going into e30.
