So I still haven't hit 600 miles on my 335i yet. But my new commute involves about 30 miles round trip of pure highway. Again I'm trying to follow break-in procedures and keep my rpms below 4500 and vary both the rpms and speed. But sometimes on the freeway I just hit 75-80 and shift into 6th gear and cruise for a bit. I don't think they had in mind that you keep bouncing speeds between say 65 and 80 and shift between 5th and 6th your entire journey, no? Are there tips on how to vary your speed and rpms on the highway?

Also, my driver's sport seat has developed a squeak, like a squeaky bed. I slowly squeaks if I am accelerating as my body gets pushed back into the seat. But otherwise I notice it when I am adjusting or shifting in my seat. Is that worth calling the dealer about? Can they do anything to fix it? Thanks.

Break-in?

Squeaky seat - no way anything should be squeaking. Make BMW fix it.

Does it sound as though its coming from the seatback?

I am hearing one in the center console area (I think). Man, I hate to be so obsessive, but every car I have driven since my 528 seems to have a squeak, rattle, buzz, something. I drove an Acura for a while, a new TL and the dash rattle let to work being done that only made the problem worse. I am nervous to get anything worked on for that reason. I hope I'm not just losing my mind. Thanks, any input would be appreciated.

A) Turn the radio up louder
B) Get louder exhaust

I had the same squeaky seat problem with my 335i coupe (also with sport seats) after I'd had it about two months. The problem was a broken plastic seat rail. It was an easy fix for the dealer; the guy I talked to said he's seen this before and that he thinks it's from guys shifting in the seat to get their wallets out of back pockets.

I have since my post listened more closely, it is the seat. DrBrad, thanks for the answer. I will ask my dealer today. I hope to get it fixed, and then learn to keep my wallet in my coat. LOL. Thanks.

I took my coupe into the dealer, and within 4 hours they took out the seat and tightened the loose fastener.

But get this, they took it on a 5 mile "road test" ... I dunno what others would think, but I was little pissed about that. I agree you need to drive it to check for noise, but just go around the bloody block, don't joy ride in my car. I still only had 800+ miles on the car and had been strictly sticking to the break-in recommendation. Hope they didn't ruin that. Argh!!!

A few general comments/question:
1) Does anyone notice when the car is idle (make sure to turn off your music and keep it quiet in the cabin) that there is a little weeeeeep pause, weeeeep, pause ... very slight noise likely associated with the engine operations...but hell I'm probably being paranoid.

2) So after I took my car into the dealer, my bluetooth phone settings got erased. I then paired it up again, but that little cellphone icon on the iDrive screen doesn't appear anymore. Anyone know what I'm talking about, right next to your signal strength, on the left is a little cellphone icon. It's gone! How do I get it back?? I liked it...all my passengers would like like oh cool that's your phone and shiat?

Thanks.

Be happy it was only 5 miles. Audi took my car on a 23mile test drive to make sure the A/C was working correctly. Now that is something you can check in a parking spot!

Has anyone noticed a squeak from the passenger seat? It's driving me nuts, it squeaks over every subtle road bump. When a passenger sits in the seat, however, it mostly goes away so now I feel convinced it is in fact the seat, especially after reading this thread, except the thread deals with the driver's seat. Any suggestions? I'll take it in, but would like to pinpoint the problem for the dealer. thanks.

I purchased my 2007 335i Sedan last week and have the same squeak on my driver set. towards the back in the corner. Squeaks when I move. Bringing it into the dealer to fix for sure! Thought it was just my car but looks like its happening to a lot of us.

I'm having the same squeaky seat problem. It has been there from the beginning and hasn't worked itself out after 2000 miles. I probably would have accepted it as something to learn to live with had others not mentioned how they refused to accept it and got the dealer to fix it. It does bug me - so I'm going to take it in. Glad to know people have high standards and hold their dealers to them.
