So my son forgets to take his cell phone out of his pants, and it goes through the washer and dryer and is ruined. I needed to get a new cell phone anyway, so I can take advantage of the Bluetooth and IDrive on my 335 that is on order and due next month.;) So, my son is gets my current phone, and I get to buy a new one.

Before I go out and buy one, I would like to know which ones have worked flawlessly with the car (all contact names showing up, calls connecting/disconnecting properly etc). After all, from what I have read, it is easier to have the cell phone work with the car, then to get the car to work with the cell phone. (Also, I do not think it matters, but I am with cingular....)

I have to get a new phone tomorrow (2/7) after work, so anyone that can let me know what models worked flawlessly before then, I would appreciate it!

Thanks everyone!

the motorola razr phones and the slivr all seem to work perfectly. my sprint samsung M900 works perfect too. I think the officially authorized phones are the motorolas.

here is the list... they are all supposed to work and if you get in trouble someone at BMWUSA should be able to walk you through... if not your CA.

I have not heard of any problems with the RAZRs with just one word of caution. I have two RAZRs, one personal and one for work. The first works fine 100% of the time. The second one seems to not want to stay Bluetooth connected. Once it does get a solid hookup, it seems to stay. Sometimes that is fast, other times it isn't. The first one is still never a problem.

The car can handle up to 4 BT phones, but maybe it doesn't want two of the same model. If you only will have one RAZR, I'll bet it works fine. The problem phone is the V3i with the ITunes in it. Both are Cingular by the way (oops - I mean the new AT&T). :shifty

good luck.

bluetooth works flawlessly for some people, and never works for others. obviously the TCU modules are crap, which happen to be made by Motorola.
