PakkiPrincess86 02-06-2007, 12:43 PM How much would it cost to get a 2000 BMW 328ci Lowered? amdspitfire 02-06-2007, 12:49 PM why would you want to lower it? PakkiPrincess86 02-06-2007, 12:50 PM To make it look hott abrcrombe 02-06-2007, 01:05 PM http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/SACHS/ Good way to do it... PakkiPrincess86 02-06-2007, 01:13 PM Thanks....Ur Awesome! abrcrombe 02-06-2007, 01:15 PM check out the e46 subforum here. Lots of info on making your car look better. And faster (if you are into that) PakkiPrincess86 02-06-2007, 01:17 PM Yeah I am actually. The prob is I'm a girl and I really dont know how to hook up my car so I'll need alot of help parabellum 02-06-2007, 01:29 PM If you drop your car, you are best off doing an adjustable kit. You can do springs only, but it will shorten the life of your existing OEM shocks (and can cause camber issues if the drop is more than like 1" or so). The best way to go is to get a good set of adjustable coilovers...just order them online and them have them installed by a trusted shop. You can keep your oem shocks for backup, or sell them on ebay/classifieds and recoup some of the $1800 the coilovers are probably going to cost you. abrcrombe 02-06-2007, 01:50 PM What is wrong with the ones I posted? I am not trying to be confrontational, trying to LEARN :) parabellum 02-06-2007, 02:00 PM Nothing wrong with those, but they are not adjustable. Here is a little info on where your $$ goes with a top end adjustable kit: H&R PCS Coil Over - $1570 Coil over suspension is the ultimate expression of high-performance handling, and now H&R Special Springs takes this technology to the next level with its new PCS Coil Overs. Like H&R's original Coil-Overs, PCS Coil-Overs are engineered for street use, but have a number of new features designed for the enthusiast who desires a manual shock dampening feature. In addition to state-of-the-art inverted damper technology and adjustable ride height, PCS Coil Overs feature an external adjustment knob that allows the user to simultaneously adjust rebound and compression. Nose-diving under hard breaking is virtually eliminated, which effectively reduces braking distance. And unlike traditional twin-tube shock absorbers, H&R's mono-tube gas shock absorbers eliminate foaming of the damper oil, even under extreme conditions. parabellum 02-06-2007, 02:01 PM So...if she wants to change rims, change driving style, get some track time, etc....one suspension setup will work for all of those changes because you can adjust it. abrcrombe 02-06-2007, 02:08 PM So the user can adjust them, don't need to take it into the shop? Also is this a DIY or do you need a lift and a tech? amdspitfire 02-06-2007, 03:18 PM just have a shop cut your springs, does magic for very little $ parabellum 02-06-2007, 03:19 PM That part I don't know for sure...but I bet you can just put the car up on jack stands and adjust it your self. You might not even need to jack up the car. Many shocks have a nut at the top for preload adjustment. Charisma 02-06-2007, 04:34 PM I don't know, but why the hell is this in the detailing section? abrcrombe 02-06-2007, 04:44 PM LOL, I think she thought this was the show and style section... or whatever it is called. blitzed310 02-06-2007, 05:45 PM lol, Hey princess your on a roll today.... parabellum 02-06-2007, 05:54 PM ^^^^^ That E21 is AWESOME. abrcrombe 02-06-2007, 06:49 PM ^^^^^ That E21 is AWESOME. +1 LOL where have I seen you before blitzed?? ;) blitzed310 02-06-2007, 07:32 PM ^^^^^ That E21 is AWESOME. Thank you! +1 LOL where have I seen you before blitzed?? ;) Spearmint Rhino? PakkiPrincess86 02-07-2007, 11:12 AM I dont know what section to go to parabellum 02-07-2007, 11:15 AM Technically, this could have gone in the Rides and Styling forum, or the E46 specific forum. Either one would have been fine. PakkiPrincess86 02-07-2007, 01:11 PM Thanks for da advice Tony P 02-08-2007, 11:49 AM Coilovers are best because of the adjustability factor. If you replace the springs, you should also replace the shocks I would never cut stock springs! parabellum 02-08-2007, 12:04 PM I too, would never cut springs on any car that I care about. (V)3 02-08-2007, 01:02 PM just have a shop cut your springs, does magic for very little $ Bad advice. Cutting springs will dramatically effect your handling NEGATIVELY. When you lower a car with a macpherson setup (almost all BMWs have this setup), your car will roll more b/c you are increasing the roll couple. You need a stiffer spring to control the increased roll couple. Don't believe me, read this: http://e30m3performance.com/myths/Weight_Transfer/weight_transfer2.htm cliff notes: your car will handle worse if you cut your springs. The best way to go is to get a good set of adjustable coilovers... IMO, coilovers are OVERKILL for just looking "hott". They are more harsh for just street driving too. Just get new springs and shock/struts... it's cheaper than coilovers too. Springs and struts/shocks will run you about $800. The prob is I'm a girl and I really dont know how to hook up my car so I'll need alot of help That is not an excuse for not knowing how to mod your car. :smash We're in the 21st Century!
