just ordered my 2007 335i cab...white/red exterior/interior...NAV, sports pack w/ 19" rims, bluetooth and teleassist...still havne't decided on the interior trim...poplar grain grey looks better than brushed aluminum...but sales told me aluminum might match my color choice better...

wat do u guys think?

the aluminum is certainly a lot sportier of a choice... and you've ordered a sporty car... so the potential target buyer of your car at a later date may be thrown off by the wood trim... but it's your car... the grey poplar is really nice too!

The wood trim reminded me of my dad's Buick. Just my $0.02.

Here's my take - the aluminium trim reminds me of an Acura TSX. Wood is more luxurious and older-looking. I agree the aluminium is "sporty", but to me, the interior of a BMW (let's be honest guys, it's a BMW not a Lotus Elise) should err on the side of comfort rather than plain, spartan form-and-function. I'm not a huge fan of the red interior, I think it's a bit bright, but I've seen that with both aluminium and grey poplar, and the wood looks nicer to my eyes. The aluminium just seems cheap to me for a $45k car - and please don't take offence, I'm just giving you my opinion.
That said, are you SURE you want the red interior? How about saddle brown with the light wood...quite a stunning combo with a White exterior.
Either way, good luck.

the red looks awesome I think... I've been in a z4 that had the grey poplar and red interior. it was fantastic. I say go for the grey wood if that's what you want... I just wouldn't ever go with the light or dark burl.

i think wat the sales meant is the contrast/layer feeling...like there's less contrast in dark wood coz the dashboard is black, where as the aluminum compliments the aluminum on the shift knob (i'm getting stick shift) and the aluminum on the steering....

dat said...the aluminum surrounding the stick (the square platform) looks kinda strange IMO...and i heard there r lights shining on the door trim when doors r opened which makes the dark wood door trim looks real nice...

but again...still worried that i may go wrong w/ poplar grey...man tough call...gotta make up my mind soon b4 things can still be changed...mine's a march production

I think the grey poplar looks good. Its quite dark and I think it looks much better than the other brown trim. It really doesn't look like they tried to make it look like "wood". Its just a nice trim. I think its better than aluminum. What do you mean by white/red exterior/interior? What colour is the outside of the car - white?

My wife's car is white with the poplar...looks very good. I'd go for it. It has grey dakota inside.

alrite...made the decision and foned the sales to switch to poplar grey...looks like we're getting comfort access in canada as well!...

sales was nice to tell me he deleted the "shark fin" atenna for me coz i told him to make sure there r no atennas sticking out like most verts do...but if it's deleted i'll loose my SOS function and satellite radio...o wellz shark fin's fine...as long as it's not one of those that looks like a radio atenna coz it kinda makes the car looks like those RF remote toys IMO...

i wonder how the top is gonna fold w/ the shark fin tho...

hopefully it's not 2 late to change options....worst case i'll just wait 4 another month

The CD player (standard) and 6-Disc changer (optional) will both play MP3's. This means you can burn a data cd full of MP3 files and the radio will read it. This has nothing to do with iPod/MP3 player integration. The car comes standard with an AUX jack which you can use to hook your player into the radio. In this scenario the only thing you can adjust using the car controls is the volume. The optional MP3/iPod integration kit allows you to control the content of the player from the radio controls and will display some tag information on the radio (or NAV screen if you get NAV).

Canada gets 19" rims?
My 335 would only get 18's if I do the sport package.
I am using the wood trim because of all the claims that the aluminum would get scratched...

aftp302, thx 4 the mp3 info...i guess the standard CD player would do...i heard it wun read the info from an authentic CD tho...but as long as it'll read the ones i burn...it's all good =)

fun2drive, the 19" only comes as an upgrade for the sports package...it's like an xtra $1.5KCAD on top of the sports pack...u sure they dun haf it in the states?...better check w/ ur sales

i was reading the other thread regarding color choices in this forum...seems nobody has picked white/red/poplar grey...most ppl go w/ aluminum for white/red...hope it turns out nice

I would have gone with aluminum in the convertible, but gray poplar would be the #2 choice. Either way, you will have a sweeeet ride. I took the leap to 335 but another 6 for the vert was too much, darn.

it won't have a 'shark fin' like the normal e90's... what it will get is a much smaller 'bump' like fin that sits on the trunk lid. it's not bad looking at all... and I surely wouldn't remove it. don't worry, it will be great :)
