Hey guys, I just got a job offer in Jacksonville. I graduated from UCF 2 years ago, took this job in Louisville (Kentucky!) I have been begging to get back to Florida and it looks as if it will be Jacksonville. Where is the best area of town to live in? Newness? I have a house I need to sell, so I will probobly end up renting for 6 months or so. Any nice places you know of?

Thanks a lot!

I guess the best area to live in depends on how deep your pockets are. I live on the westside. Its a little cheaper, traditionally seen as hick, but has some nice areas these days. The southside is very popular and the prices are reasonable enough I guess. The beaches can be fun, but can be pricey for a nice place. If you have deep pockets, then Ponte Vedra would be a popular option.

What part of town is your work?
Do you want a house or apt. or condo?
What price range?

I will be traveling the entire Jacksonville Metro Area down to St. Augustine. I am looking for a nice Apartment/ Condo for around 1k a month +/-. I just wanted to know if there are some areas to avoid (its hard to tell from rent.com haha)

Thanks for the help!

As far as hickish goes... I am moving from Kentucky. I am sure I will be ok! :stickoutt

I live in Southside - love it because it's in the center of the city, easy to get everywhere, and reasonably priced.

There are also a lot of new condos, townhomes, and apartment complexes that have gone up in the past 18 months or so too.

southisde is definately a good spot to be.

The only real appeal the westside has is less trafic (unless you are in orange park) and less cost. Around my house, there is no traffic and I am very close to the highway. My house would have cost $30k+ more if I bought it where all the trafffic was.

There are alot more good options for nice apartments in the southside.
