That is definitely my favorite island. Has the most night life obviously with waikiki too. Since you are military you should especially enjoy it as well. There is TONS of military personel over there and they get treated real well (discounts, special access to places etc.). I went all over the island, from North Shore, to Barbers Point, to Waikiki. You can start at the simple waves at waikiki. $10/hr to rent a board! You can go out 200ft and its still only 6-7ft deep. However, it is currently "old person" season in Hawaii. So, while lounging you will not have as good of scenery as usual, don't get me wrong though, there are still some breathtaking sites :eek:! If you want to go snorkel, are you planning on going to Hanauma bay?
