Whats up everybody, I'm actually on this forum for my little brother, he's not a big car guy and he has a 96 318i. Personally, I've always been a fan of Beamers especially the M3's but, I couldn't afford it so I grabbed an 06 Mustang GT for myself.
Anyway, the STEALERSHIP wants to charge him like 3g's for some real routine stuff where he's in school in North Carolina and I was wondering if anybody knew of anyplace in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area that he can take his car to to get fixed. Overall, they say his driveshaft is messed up and he needs a new one along with the fact that his break light sensor is messed up. All help is needed, including any reputable sites that you know of to buy replacement OEM parts. Thanks alot guys, Jordan.

Is it just the driveshaft and brake sensor? A new brake pad sensor is $11.50 at Pelican Parts. http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/catalog/shopcart/BE36/POR_BE36_BRKpad_pg4.htm#item13
You also can pick up a used driveshaft for quite cheap. Have your bro check out www.pricesautoparts.net They are right outside of Raleigh and list driveshafts for E36 318s. They list an automatic transmission one for $150, and a few for manual transmissions at $150 & $100. I think any old shop could swap it.

In Chapel Hill, there's a shop called ABW (A Better Wrench). It's just off of Exit 266. They do ALL my work. They are honest and at $75/hr. for labor their price is competitive. The # is 929-6921 Ext. 3. They also sell MB's, hence the different EXTs. One other plus, they'll let you bring your own parts so if you can find what you need online, you can save yourself some $. Tell your brother to ask for Al or Cameron and tell either of them Shane from Bimmerforums and, locally, Durham sent him.

European Performance off Hillsborough street past the fairgrounds in Raleigh is one of the best local shops. They have worked on my cars for years. Cheaper than a dealer, more expensive than Joe German Car Guy, but been around for quite some time now.
Good Luck

Highly recommend Dave Davis at Dave's Automotive 919 829 9599. He preps several BMW CCA race cars and knows his stuff when it comes to BMWs.
Also good in Raleigh is Shade Tree garage (though no personal experience with them), Black Forest Industries (www.blackforestindustries.com (http://www.blackforestindustries.com)) and Village Motorwerkes in Cameron Village near NC State Campus. BFI and Village have both worked on my car(s) and have always treated me right with good prices on labor/parts.
