View Full Version : Bimmer On Order
aBMWdude 02-05-2007, 01:31 PM Hey guys
Finally my BIMMER ( 328 xi sedan) , sexy montego blue on black/alum is on order .My order number is 3581xxx .Does anyone know when will be my production week ?
theroyalwe 02-05-2007, 02:07 PM I have one with the same numbers up to the last 3 on order and it shows production starting march 10th. of course without the last 3 it will be hard to pin it down all the way.
aBMWdude 02-05-2007, 02:50 PM So my production date wil be in March .I will get those 6 programmable knobs .Cool .Waiting always pays .Thanks dude
theroyalwe 02-05-2007, 02:59 PM no problem man
Sea2Ski 02-05-2007, 04:48 PM What 6 programable knobs are your referring to BMWDude?
aBMWdude 02-05-2007, 06:57 PM 3 series will have 6 programmable buttons for the navigation as well as for the radio which will not only make it more user friendly but also give a more filling look to the dashboard .
theroyalwe 02-05-2007, 08:33 PM they can be programmed for all different kinds of things... you can set it up with a phone #... an address... they are very useful!
bigrobb2 02-05-2007, 11:24 PM Wow!!! Where did you find this info, this is the first I've heard of this. I just ordered my 335 last week so I guess that would be one thing good for ordering late.

OK, so I'm taking delivery of my December built 335 on Thursday and am excited about it. I really didn't need to know there are mid-MY changes that I could have gotten had I waited 2 months. :mad
At least the change is minor, but those buttons sound nice! I'd love to be able to just tap a button on the dash and have it call home through my cell.
theroyalwe 02-06-2007, 12:13 AM don't worry about it too much... you can just hit the voice command button and say "call home" also... the real trick is to learn all about how the voice command system works. once you've got all the commands figured out in your head you can use it quickly and easily... just get in the car and say "frequency ninety three point three" or whatever and it will change the radio... you can do all kinds of stuff with it. I don't really use the extra buttons on the x5... but during delivery I program one with the customer's home address so they can nav home from wherever and I program my # in another spot so they can call me should they have any questions about their new car.
bigrobb2 02-06-2007, 01:12 AM I don't think the Coupe will get those buttons. I did a Google search for "six programmable memory keys" in the 3 series and all that comes up is the new convertible.
But I hope the coupes get them on the new builds though that would be sweeeeeeeeeeet.
Sea2Ski 02-06-2007, 09:06 AM TheRoyalWe.... that sounds very nice of you to program your number in in case they have any questions. And I bet it works GREATl on the single girls!!! (Or guys if you are female... or whichever are into..... Okay time for me to be quiet now.)
Are you in SE PA?

lol... I haven't had much in the way of single girls so far (well... except for the 2 16th birthday presents, but no thanks :stickoutt ) but I guess worse things could happen :)
and yes.. SE PA - Bucks County :)

actually there was a bulletin this morning about the 335xi and it WILL be getting the 6 programmable buttons. no paddle shifters or active steering will be available though. you will also be able to get the ipod/usb adaptor as an option and not an accessory.

iPod as an option and not an accessory. Another reason I should've waited! :( I am having the iPod kit installed in my 335 pre-delivery, so here's to hoping that the dealer pulling apart the dash doesn't lead to premature squeaks/rattles. There's almost nothing I hate more than squeaks/rattles in the dash. It usually sends me into a flurry of beating the dash with my fist, not that that helps the situation any! :rolleyes

If you log on to bmw website you can enter your vin # in the owners circle and it will update you as to where your car is along the production line.
Also the ipod/USB adaptor is not installed in the dash from the factory, it is installed under the center armrest as well as a accessory plug for your cellphone to charge, or your ipod. Not sure why they changed it into an option, it came standard with all e92's, as well as prewiring for center 6 disc CD/MP3 changer and sat radio.

I believe that the IPod adapter goes in the dash glove box and not the center console. Also, I don't believe that it was ever standard on E92's. I sure never got one on mine. The cell phone charging dock (which I do have) is located in the center console. The IPod adapter does not charge cell phones. :shifty
theroyalwe 02-06-2007, 02:44 PM mark is correct. the stuff in the center console is a 12v power plug and an AUX input. the Ipod/USB setup will be a direct plug for the ipod and will not only charge your ipod, but if you have NAV you should have on-screen access of the playlists and songs and such. the two are very different. the AUX doesn't give you any control of the ipod... it's just like using your car as headphones.

I stand corrected, a little. You currently can play an ipod thru the aux in armrest with no controls other than the ipod itself. The new option I guess is a whole kit that integrates ipod controls into the radio/nav/steering wheel via glovebox?. And the 12v power plug is just for a cell phone, not ipod.

The factory iPod/USB connector IS in the center armrest. It's only the dealer installed iPod interface that's in the glovebox.

I was only speaking to the dealer installed option, as the factory version is not even out yet. If the factory version is going to be in the center console, that kind of puts the kibbosh on a cell phone cradle. :shifty

Good point. I wonder if they've designed it both fit in there somehow, or if these are now mutually exclusive options. The only way I could see that they could make them both fit is to stack them which wouldn't be very practical. Since BMWUSA.COM still doesn't have the factory iPod option listed, I guess we don't know unless one of the CA's here can enlighten us.
theroyalwe 02-06-2007, 08:38 PM well... I wish I knew more right now but I'm tapped out. as soon as I either get another bulletin or get a car with it I'll let everyone know :)
