View Full Version : Bluetooth/lost phone settings query
denton 02-04-2007, 07:51 AM Hi all:
Last week I took my 2007 328xi in for a new oil level sensor. Seems when they do certain kinds of diagnostics you lose all your presets. I lost seat memory, radio presets, all the programming like triple-flasher, etc. But worst it no longer recognizes my Razr.
I spent an hour yesterday trying to re-synch it with no luck. I removed all the prior info from the car and from the phone, to try and start from scratch. I watched the video on bmwusa.com.
Everything goes fine, the phone finds the car, and then when the car sees the phone and asks you would you like to add it, enter a security code, I cannot find a code that works. I know the dealer used 0000. He suggested 1111 which I tried, to no avail. I've tried a bunch of other possible combos, like the last 4 digits of my phone #, last 4 digits on the VIN, and so on. No luck.
At this point I don't know whether the car is acting up, or the phone.
Anyone run into this before?

Are u entering 4 digit code in phone first when asked & then same 4 numbers to car when asked?
You should be able to make up any 4 digit code u want long as car & phone match!
Good Luck!

theroyalwe 02-05-2007, 12:10 AM sounds like a problem in that your phone still remembers it was connected to the car... but the car doesn't remember the phone. it won't ask you for the numbers again until you delete the car from your list of bluetooth devices. I don't have a razr so I don't know the exact menu sequence... but once you delete it from that list you start over and add the car as a device. when it tries to pair it will ask you for a number. I just put in 1111. then on the radio it will show the razr and ask if you want to add the device. you push the button under 'yes' and then type in the 1111 and then hit the button under 'ok' on the radio. make sense?

denton 02-05-2007, 07:06 AM Makes perfect sense, it just ain't working! I deleted the car from the list of bluetooth devices on the phone, in fact I deleted all devices from both phone and car. Damn!

Time to go back to the dealer to get them to fix it. Good luck.

monokakata 02-05-2007, 08:54 PM I had a similar problem when first synching my razr. The problem was that I wasn't finding the "return" or "CR" equivalent after entering the 4 digits (0000) on the car. Now I'm ashamed to say that I can't remember what combination of pushing the idrive controller (or moving it) was, but once I found it all was well.
I know this is less helpful than it could be, and I'm sorry. But for me that was the issue in the largest sense --- I wasn't terminating the numeric string properly, and so of course nothing useful happened.
