So I just got pulled over and cited. Pulled over for a brake light out, confirmed by the officers partner... I told them I had brand new bulbs and fixtures as of last Friday. The officer then told me I didn't use my signals for a lane change, I used them for all previous lane changes. Cop walked back to car. Another officer pulled up, was asked to check my brakes I'm assuming, and she asked me to press my brakes.. After that, she wouldn't tell me if they were working or not and I would have to ask the other officer... Who later (when he cited me) told me that they were in fact working! Surprise surprise, new fixtures and bulbs, of course they were! So I was cited for not using my turn signal when I DID use it. Does anyone know a good traffic lawyer in the Portland area? Or maybe civil lawyer, as I think this is grounds to sue the officer and/or department... A officer once told me that they can not pull you over for false or no reasons, and the reason I was pulled over for was invalid as confirmed by another officer...

Sorry for the rant, thanks to anyone who can help :) :buttrock

That IS a dumb decision! I only decided to not be super polite after the dick head didn't give me his name or a reason for pulling me over until after he took my papers... When he said I had a brake light out, I said "what is this, harassment? they are brand new and for sure work!!" (verified by a friend not 5 miles before) Then he started in on how I'm white so it can't be harassment.. Are you serious? 1. Persistent attacks and criticism causing worry and distress
2. To deliberately pester or annoyI do believe that he falls under that.

Anyways, thank you, I will be calling (him/her?) and seeing about a lawyer up in this area. But first I'm talking to my friends dad who happens to be a DA in ~3 cities and a judge in 2-3 counties... And lives in LO... He might have a good suggestion... I wish I could file a complaint, but I drive in LO every day and I see a cop every time, and I don't need to be pulled over EVERY SINGLE DAY. That happened to one of my buddies when he filed a complaint after the same cop pulled him over like 3 times. Its only illegal if its ~5 or more times, something like that. And they will just switch up who pulls you over...

I see cops every time I go through LO. Not that they can do much about it. The other night, he was in some SUV, watching as we went by. Be interesting if he tried to pull me over, if he could get ahead of my train...

What the hell got Kevin Webb so well known with our community?

LO cops are truly a bunch of dicks who have nothing better to do than pick on African Americans, Latinos, and people with sports cars.

My dad was pulled over about 5 blocks from our house for going 10 over around a curvy road that pedestrians dont use. Cop admitted he had been following him for >2 miles.

I-5 doesn't have to many cops, but they do like to hide a little beyond the Terwilliger Curves. Its Lake O that has too many traffic cops.

Kevin Webb just plain sucks. He was awarded some "most valuable cop" award last year for his stupid antics. Webb has a tendancy to ignore the behavior of the kids that are actually out causing problems, and hassle people who are simply minding their own business. Any given weekend night, Webb can be seen making dozens of stops that result in no ticket or even warning, just because he feels like pulling people over. He's pulled me over twice.

The first time was when I was having a a wonderful evening with the damn plastic radiator neck on my 328. I had to pull into the public parking garage underground on state street. I was trying to let it cool down and get the hose on as best as I could with the help of a friend. Webb comes screaming down into the garage, sirens blaring and comes runing of his car. He demands to know what the hell we're doing in a public garage with my hood open. We explained to him the problem and after 5 minutes of asking questions he goes "I actually don't know anything about cars, I just wanted to be sure you were telling the truth." He then searches both our cars (we're both wearing suits, looking completely innocent). After he realized that there was nothing to find he went and sat in his car for the rest of the time we were under there, just watching us.

Next time I saw him, I was driving back from a party totally sober. I had just picked up my Z3 and there isn't really a great place for a temp permit. Asshole races up on me after giving up on another guy that he's pulled over, and snatches me. He asked me to please put my permit in a more visible spot and then insists on searching my car until the end of time. I have nothing to hide, so I was just annoyed as hell.

This man does nothing to keep any of us safe. He makes the profession of police officing look like a joke. Everyone in the area has a Kevin Webb story. The man just plain sucks and I can't believe the department keeps honoring him for all his pathetic work.

God damnit, he just sucks so much.

I get followed occasionally in LO. They never pull over my dirty 30 tho. Kinda funny, cause its not very street legal...

Interesting to know. This is going to be an interesting legal battle, as he pulled me over for a false reason, that was verified by another officer, and the police video will verify my brake lights worked as he had his partner "confirm" that they didn't.. I could see his partner light up from my right brake light!! The video will show this too... I'll keep you guys posted, court isn't until the end of the month, but I hope to have some results much sooner due to my lawyer ;)

interesting that he searches peoples cars on such a regular basis.

i cant wait to get out of this "sue happy" society. where people dont try to profit of the legal system on a regular basis for such minor incidents.

Friend of mine got pulled over last night on Country Club Dr. doing ~8 over. Got his car searched, and the officer asked him if he was hiding anything in his car. He looks like a fat computer nerd (no offense) but the Air Jordan hat must have screamed marijuana. He didn't get a ticket but what the hell is that about? Do these people think kids are running drugs through LO in Toyota Tacomas?

He doesn't remember the officers name, but he said late 30's with brown hair.

Equally as bad is the policing on the actual lake. Bastards.

I got two lake police officers re-assigned for negligence a few years ago, it was awesome.

You'd be suprised by how many people actually are running drugs through the city. Coincidentally, Webb is friends with all these kids, and I can prove it should there ever be a need...

Webb is a lot younger than late 30's. I think he's mid 20's.

It's pretty funny to drive through LO on a given day/night/anytime. I remember taking the long drive home one friday night through downtown LO and through the back roads... I saw 5 cops in the 3 mile stretch between our shop and downtown. All of them either had someone pulled over or followed them into the city and then pulled them over. Interesting. This is why I like my E34 and also why I like to be overly cautious in my driving habits.

So is Officer Webb a dirty cop? And are you talking about running big loads of drugs or just the petty dealer with an ounce or two in his car?

Can't tell the drug dealers cars from the soccer moms around town.

No, Webb isn't a dirty cop. He's just a cock. I have too many sketchy friends and all of them love Webb to death. He lets them all off when they're holding oodles of X or running ounces of teh MJ to the high school kids.

I'd be really shocked if there were serious drug dealers running around town anymore because the only guy I knew of went down pretty hard.
