you have the two wires coming out of the knob and you will sodder/connect them to two wires from your harness - if your car did not come w/ a lighted shiftknob originally then you will have to run a ground and a positive that is from your parking light circuit - that way it goes on when your parking lights are turned on

pm'd you back

bimmer 123 no worries - just fyi - the wires beeing cut makes no difference (if you buy it new from bmw you still have to follow what i wrote in post # 5) - as long as the knob is removed from the car the wires are always going to be cut -

I mean them being cut short like how those are, new ones come with the cables and the plug, you just have to plug it in if you have it. Mine has the oem plug for the lighted knob that's why I was saying. But then again a new lighted knob is $100

I'm confused on the lighted knobs, my car is a 99, and the knob and boot are one piece, sewn together. I'm guessing earlier models where two pieces, knob and boot, and later models are one piece. I need a new knob but guessing yours won't work. Here is a pic if this doesn't make sense.

on the 99 m3's that i have owned the booth and knob were two separate items ( I have replaced just the knob) - i don't know about your car -
