Does anyone have a recommendation for a shop to install the 3M clear protection in the DE/NJ/PA area? I spoke to my dealer today and he said they've never installed this on a car and their preferred body shop (Coach Works) has never done it either. I find this very hard to believe, but I find myself looking for a suggestion for where else to get it done.

Thanks!
Anyone have this particular brand of film on their car? I haven't heard of it, but have heard of the 3M and the one that BMW lists in the accessory brochure. Just wondering if anyone had any real world observations of it's quality compared to the other two.

clearguard is a very good brand... but if you're more comfortable with 3m, go here (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Scotchgard-PPF/Home/For_the/Consumer/Find_Installer/)

I have had the 3M protective film on my E320 for over 4 years. It has saved me from many road debris chips. I also had it installed on the mirrors, headlights, and used it as a door edge guard. Sorry I didn't use it inside the entry door handles, which now has various fingernail scratches. Good Luck!

I don't have it and would not get it for my car. I saw a 335 sedan in Freehold BMW lot yesterday with it on. I did not like it at all. The edges are dark and stand out. To me it just took way from the fabulous shine and feel of the real paint. After i wash my baby, I love the way the hood shines and feels so smooth and soft. Ok I better stop this is getting xrated..;-)
Rally, I never keep a car long enough to worry about it and if I did, I would just have it repainted if it really got that bad...

My dealer quoted me $850 for the install using the BMW film and an outside installer. I got another quote from a 3rd party of $650 for the 3M film installed. Both quotes were for the entire package (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors).
Any feedback/thoughts on the $650 price?

well it's certainly better than 850. Actually it sounds about right. I think that's the same quote I got for my MINI...
