View Full Version : BMW 325XI vs. Acura RSX Type S, Type S pulled over by State Police after race LOL

I was out with my brother and a blue Acura RSX Type S comes up next to us. 3 beeps and the race started. I pulled for the 1st 2 gears and that was it (in M mode steptronic). Got it up to about 115mph and I see a state trooper in my rear view. I thought it was all over. I slow down gradually and he goes by me and gets behind the Acura in front of me and pulls him over. It was hilarious. The kid who drove the Acura called me up and told me that the trooper gave him a break. He really had no way to prove how fast we were going. Anyway it was funny considering the first thing out of the trooper's mouth was "What were you and that Bimmer doing?":buttrock:buttrock:buttrock

The cop must have been in a good mood because 115 is pretty fast especially when a cop is behind you. Did the guy in the acura get a warning or something?

BavariaMotorist
02-01-2007, 01:09 PM
So you pulled on him and kept it there till 115? I have a hard time believing that for many obvious reasons.

I don't believe it and here is why: 5Spd 325xi's are slllllllwwwwwwwwwwwow. And I mean slow. They have no pickup at all. Not to mention you are also in an automatic. So if you truly won, then your friend in the Acura obviously was shifting at like 4500rpms... just my opinion.

I test drove two of these cars that were 5spds and I shit you not, my buddy riding in the back said "Get on it a bit James" and I had the peddle to the floor. So to make sure it wasn't just that car, I went and test drove another one, 2500 total miles on it and it seemed worse then the one I drove with 25k on it.

The rsx is not only many hundreds of lbs lighter, but is way more powerful.

I can only see you pulling in 1st 2 gears cause of your torque advantage.

Sorry I did not make myself clear. What I meant is that I pulled with him in the 1st 2 gears then I saw the Trooper and backed off and he just kept going. He got off with a warning. The trooper said to just drive safe and slow down.:nono

Bimeralex if you read my previous post you would see that I did not myself clear. Of course the RSX Type S won. I said that I pulled in the 1st 2 gears and that was it. Meaning boom thats when he passed. Read up before you call me a liar:lol

ok ,,,sorry i thought u mean the other way around....cause i know the rsx type s can be a real chalenge to beat,,,,
i raced a e46 328ci manual,,,,and beat him after 50mph with my 93 SC400 but when i raced RSX type S with same car he had me by a car up to 115mph

Yea dude it was no contest after a while. I was smart enough to slow down and see the trooper. I raced the same kid in my Jetta 1.8T and beat him however.

Yea cause i was goint to call BS too on this one. Stock 1.8 jettas are not fast but chipped ones are, around 40hp up from 180.

Stock for stock with equal drivers, a 1.8T jetta doesn't stand a chance against a RSX-S.

That sounds like when I was in my friends 93 Mr2 racing a near stock 92 RX7 FD. There was another FD behind doing the honk. We saw a cop turn on there lights. i dont know if there was break in highway divider but we didn't stop. We went about 7 exits up on i264 in virginia beach. Got to about 145-150mph in MR2. FD was good 1/8 to 1/4 mile head of us.

Even though 93+ MR2 brakes are better then previous. There was some serious brake fade slowing down from 140mph. Also getting the MR2 difting around a corner. Hauling ass to get away from highway and on to local miltary base. Where we chilled for about a hour.

Please take into consideration that my Jetta is an auto, and weighs more. And has 20 hp less.

You guys give those k20 ivtec engines too much credit. Their good motors and RSX's are quick cars but I've never seen a lightly modded ones break outta the high 14, low 15 mark at the track. Don't get me wrong, they can be monsters with little work, but still....

,,,a stock especialy auto jetta will have NO chance with an rsx type S

RSx type s 0-60 6.2 -6.5 1/4mi 14.5 -14.8
Jetta auto 0-60 8.0 sec 1/4mi in 15.7

so just by those numbers,,,,Jetta should of lost horiblly

Ok my 93 325is ran flat 15 sec on the track my first time and with Profanity lunches, my 60ft time was 2.1
those time are enough to beat a new e46 manual 328ci

stock 325is ran 15.7 in 1/4 and 7.2 0-60

Either way my friend has Audi TT with same 180hp engine that you have and he is manual also. His car weights less then yours plus its a manual with more hp. He has APR chip which gives him 210hp and 240 trq and still i beathim in my SC400 which got beaten by a nearly stock rsx type s with exhaust only.. SO how u beat him with your stock 180 hp engine and with auto is a mystery to me.

But i guess anything is possible, but with equal good drivers ,, your car against a stock rsx type woudl have lost badly.

I have videos from the track plus i have time slips scanned...
I can post them up..

Here is the video from the track im running against an auto wrx and beat him by good 1.5 -2 cars http://laptop-works.com/325is/wrx%20vs%20325is.mov

here is one timeslip http://laptop-works.com/325is/dragslip.jpg

I know these times seem to fast for a 93 325is but thats the facts, I did have a new valve job, maybe that contributed to more power, other then that it ran with stock intake and exhaust. Forgot to mention it also had a Bverian chip.

RSX Type-S is a drivers car. If you can't drive the car will be really slow. Like this lame kid I know ran 16.0 and 16.1 in brand new civic si coupe.

I agree. RSX only makes power way higher into the power band up to 8,000 rpms

So does that mean they can't beat 325i?

I know some rsx's that will that ran into high 13's on hondata k200, intake, jackson racing (race) header.

I'm going to jump in here.

I have a TT, with a stage 1 clutch, 14lbs fly wheel, apr chip (93 oct) and a borla exhaust system.... I've beat'n an rsx-S ...no Profanity way a 325i could beat one. Sorry.

Alex,...keep in mind when we were racing ....your SC didn't beat me that bad...and at that time I had a slightly slipping clutch (Just neither of us knew it!) ....

keep in mind in the past with my slipping clutch....and with out my stage 1 .... i would have had a solid race with an RSX-S....i beat one the other day buy a car length toping out at 125mph....

I call BS...all around... oh yes... the 1.8t jetta or TT is slow as shit with out a chip/mods. :shifty
