I've actually heard that the KYB shocks are not really great for lowering springs. I believe SC David has them, I'm sure he'll chime in on his experience...

please reply:
1-how bout if used a stronger spring...ie: eibachs or H&R's?
2-are we talking track cornering at 140mph... or just street at say 60mph?
3-would rims size have anything to do?
4-how are your thrust arms & control arms?

KYB GR2's are nitrogen filled shocks. they weren't designed for sport like cornering. the KYB AGX's on the other hand WERE. they are adjustable 8 way in the back and 4 way in the front. from my experience i hear nothing but good things about them. im not completely sure if they make them for the E34 though. they're less expensive than koni's but that doenst nessecarily mean theyre CHEAP n terms of quality

EDIT: nevermind they dont make AGX's for the E34 hahah sorry.Bilstein or Koni though FTW

but theyre good for daily driving though thats bout itCopy that. I have them with H&R's, and they are nice and comfortable, but they bottom out over big bumps and hard turns. Combined with stiff lowering springs, the ride is a little sportier than stock, but not as stiff as I would have liked. I would say they are pretty good for the price, but I also wish I had just saved up and bought Koni's.

I notice that both of you that say they bottom out under hard cornering don't list sway bars in your signatures. Shocks and springs won't necessarily eliminate body roll which could be the cause of your bottoming out the struts under heavy cornering loads. I had a set of GR2s with B+G springs on my Subaru with Whiteline sway bars front and back which I have to say was a very pleasing setup when it came to cornering grip. Didn't cost very much to put together either.

I have the KYB GR2 and Eibach setup on my 530i. I haven't driven the car to anything near track-like levels, but I do have spirited sessions sometimes. The combo feels excellent to me. I do 95% of my driving commuting on the highway.

Best mod I've done thus far. What I do need to do is trim the new bump stops to the size Eibach suggests. Right now they are their stock size which is too tall.

All model E34s use the same fitment sway bars.

I think you are thinking of a strut bar, which, yes, is unavailable for the E34 M20.

Did anyone running the KYB's use the KYB dust boots or did you use the stock dust boots with the KYB inserts? I'm waiting on my KYBs and Eibachs to show up. I ordered a couple of new stock boots, but I'm now wondering if I should have ordered the KYB boots.
