So let me start off by saying there are no BMWs involved in this kill. If the mods think this the wrong forum for a Benz-Benz kill, that's cool, but I did think this was a fun story.

And let me start off by saying I was an ass. One quick at the wheel but an ass nonetheless.

Senior year of high school driving a '97 E320, following a few cars of friends to a house party around 9. I was last in the entourage and at some point an elderly couple (I think, as I could see under the street lights) got in front of me. There's a part of the 9W (highway) approach to Sneden's Landing where there is a center lane where you're not supposed to drive...but the only thing stopping you are striped yellow lines.

So, (here's the ass part) I speed up in that forbidden center lane to get ahead of the couple, who were driving an older E-class, justifying it in my mind that I didn't want to lose my friends. Mind you, I didn't cut them off, and there weren't any other cars around except those of my friends up ahead, but it was an asshole move to cut ahead of them.

He drops back, as I expected, only to speed up again and get right on my ass. As I made the turn to follow my friends, I noticed that he followed, too. I was 18, going to a house party with mostly girls...I couldn't let this nutjob ruin a good party.

I sped up just as I entered Sneden's Landing, which 1) has very small, twisting roads, and 2) doesn't have many places to go, since it's purely residential. I pass by the party, he continues to follow. I'm doing 30-40 when I should be doing 15-20, making a quick turn right, then left, not really knowing where I'm going or where this is headed...just trying to lose the bastard. He's less than 5 seconds behind me on each turn...

Finally, I make a right...onto a road that leads up a no-outlet hill! But I got lucky: a gift from god appears immediately to my right, as I spot a long driveway for someone's mini-estate, and their small second garage close to the street-end of the driveway. The garage door was closed so I quickly turn right pulling in next to the street-side of the garage, shut off the engine, and make like a rock.

Naturally, he followed as a quick clip, but he didn't see where I was hiding and continued up the hill. I knew he'd have to come back down so I waited until he did, watching his lights slowly roll down the hill, defeated and resigned.

Success! as I start up the car and head back to the party, with a nice story to get drunken attention for when explaining why I bailed from the automobile conga-line to the house.

'97 E320's were great cars. The only year w/ the I6 and 5spd automatic. I miss my old Benz :(

Nice kill i guess. :confused
