View Full Version : What's the best tire gloss out there?
alabaster 01-30-2007, 11:03 PM What tire cleaner do you guys put on your wheels? I've used Zaino Bros Z16 (I think) for years, but can never get it to looks the way it does from the dealer. Zaino doesn't sling and get on the paint, but it never looks as good as could either. Any suggestions?
aftp302 01-30-2007, 11:07 PM Might want to try this post on the Car Detailing section of this forum, probably get more/better responses there.
alabaster 01-31-2007, 12:19 AM Will do, thanks for the suggestion.
777ER 01-31-2007, 07:16 AM It's not on the shelfs. Meguires would be the best one avail IMO but it's sticky stuff and too much applied will get sling'ed off onto the fender...
The best one is the commerical grade tire shine, it's only sold to detailing shops and dealerships.
It goes for about $20-35 for a gallon of the stuff.
You need to have connections at a detailing shop or a dealership to get the stuff.
Black Magic. You can get it at Autozone or Walmarts.
Snowkone 01-31-2007, 09:58 AM The only problem with Black Magic is that it will sling around unless you give it the proper time to dry. When I use it, I wait maybe an hour afterwards to drive it.
Bulldog 6 01-31-2007, 10:34 AM Definately Black Magic Tire Wet, hold a towel so it doesn't blow on the paint and let it dry before you drive
PhilG 01-31-2007, 11:20 AM I've used One Grand Rubber and Vinyl Dressing (E.R.V.) for years on my cars, including show cars. It's silicone free and leaves just the right finish - not shiny. Excellent product. I get it from Autosupermart www.autosupermart.com (http://www.autosupermart.com).
steveo242 01-31-2007, 11:24 PM Anything other than Zaino slings... Even after days on the car.

What are you a Zaino salesman? There are several products that do not sling, check out the detail sites for better information.
Jhunter 02-01-2007, 12:49 PM Griots has three different tire products:
Long-Lasting Tire Dressing-Black colored liquid going on, high gloss look unless you wipe off.
Weatherproof Tire Dressing-Never used it but by their description it is somewhere between the other two.
Vinyl and Rubber Dressing-Matte finish does not last as long as the other two. More subtle, just makes the tires look good without that obvious I just put goop on my tires look.
Give them a half hour to dry and they don't sling.
Every Griot product I have used has been great.
TheRealMadDog 02-01-2007, 01:29 PM Black Magic. You can get it at Autozone or Walmarts.
Good stuff. Cost me $8.00 at Pep Boys. Will have to find an Autozone to see if it's a little cheaper.

picus 02-01-2007, 08:13 PM The new version of Z16 is more "wet" it also lasts longer. You can re-apply twice for even more "bling". If that isn't enough I would suggest a silicone based dressing, like Hi Temps Grape Dressing. Just be aware that they can sling, so let them dry before driving.
Justbringit41 02-01-2007, 11:26 PM Honestly I love my Armor All tire foam. Sprays on dries in 10 minutes. No mess, no fuss

I use the Stoner "More Shine". It's easy, works great. lasts a long time, and has never "slung" that I can detect.
shragon 02-06-2007, 03:17 PM ^ i also use and like stoner. i spray it onto a tire shine applicator pad, and apply it to the tire that way. doesn't look all gooey, which i like. also has never slung on to the body.
