M5inVA 01-30-2007, 09:52 PM a 2007 550i 6 speed w/6100 miles
Monaco Blue over Gray
Sport
Cold Weather
Logic 7
Comfort Access
At Porsche dealer listed at $55,500
Pending my inspection and a PPI, my offer of $51,500 was accepted.
I am kinda new to the 550i market, does this look a good deal?
any words of guidance?

bimmerturn 01-30-2007, 10:55 PM It is a decent deal. My car brand new sticker was over 63K and I paid 58,500, the only difference I don't have the sport package or the comfort.
Scotty Dangles 01-30-2007, 11:09 PM Make sure you account for depreciation otherwise if you try to get rid of it in a year you will loose a lot of money.
In order to figure this out you will need the invoice price or at least the sticker price. Then figure out how much a car like this depreciates after leaving the lot...that should give you the real value of the car.
Sorry I can't give you numbers to work with, but I guess its a start to finding out if this is truly a good deal.

Oh one more thing...SWEET ride...!! :)

thanks,
Sticker as I calculate with options, transportation and gas guzzler was $65,800. In service date was 3/30/06. This allows for $14,300 under MSRP in 10 months. I don't think these cars depreciate that quickly so I hope to be ahead of the depreciation curve.
I've done all the math, I'm just not up to date on the market.
As for the debate on the 07 or waiting for the 08 release, I need a car now.
It has a clean carfax and I'm gonna have PPI done and check service records.

Well glad to hear you thought of depreciation.
Have a look at this report: http://www.rh.edu/~stodder/BE/CarBuy.htm
Good Luck,

Becker 01-31-2007, 09:52 PM Sounds like a solid deal - the only detriment might be the manual; I think they move a little slower in the market. Did you check KBB.com or NADA.com? I had looked at an 06 before buying mine new; it only lost about 9k with similar mileage according to the books; that was about 90 days ago, so the '07 should be ahead of the game - especially with a 14k discount off list. They're a great car - good power without the edginess of the M5. Solid daily driver with great handling and power. Enjoy.
DINANISR3 02-01-2007, 03:39 AM we just picked up an 07 550I in october, we paid alot more than what you could get it for. I'd say get it. :buttrock
M5inVA 02-01-2007, 09:40 PM The 550i was 120 miles from home, so I drove up Wednesday, checked it out and signed the papers. Picking it up on Saturday. The car was in near perfect condition, just a few very minor rock chips.
I have owned an E39 540i, E39 M5 and S54 M Roadster. The 550i seems to be a blend of all of these. A very nice/comfortable DD with good power and handling. I particularly wanted the manual. From my test drives and what others have told me, the SMG should be avoided (sorry if I offend any SMG owners), but it is not for me. I believe it is better suited for the M cars.
I have modded my previous cars but believe I will leave this one alone. The only thing I might consider is the 3.45 gears over the 2.93.
Thanks

DINANISR3 02-02-2007, 05:40 AM congrats on your purchase. but we all know that rims and suspension is a given on most/all cars. an exhaust wouldnt hurt either... :stickoutt :D
steveo242 02-25-2007, 06:35 PM Congrats, way to pull the trigger!!
