I have sold my S14/trans to a guy in South Carolina. Anyone ever ship or receive an S14? I am thinking that the oil pan was not designed to support the weight of the motor (duh). My options are to build a cradle to support the motor mounts and then palletize the whole thing or remove the header and lay the motor on its side.

Any other methods, ideas, or input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I like your first idea better - I wouldn't think it would be hard to build a cradle to support the motor from the mount points on a pallet. Even if you lie it on its side, you still have to get it to say in place.

So what are you replacing your S14 with?

I shipped mine to canada, I just set it on the oil pan and tried to keep the motor flat as possible. Although my pan had a 1/2 dollar sized hole in it...

LOL - I understand the desire for this mod, I drove one with a six and it is a completely different car with a torque monster motor in it. I briefly considered it with my old silver car that was coming up on 150k miles, but for numerous reasons - including finding another lower mileage car nearby - stayed in the S14 world.

Are you done, or is it still a work in progress? Pics?

It's a work in progress. Early stages. S52 is being built presently. Just a stock rebuild. I'm a noob and cant post pix. It's nothing much to look at really. I'm just another stooge desecrating the holy of holys (or is it holies)?

strap it to a pallet (on it's side).

Standing it on the oil pan is fine, but brace it from falling over. Removing the headers would be a good idea. All 3 of the Euro motors I bought from the UK came that way and 2 of those that I sold went that way. No worries.

A motor swap isn't worth it unless you keep the individual throttle bodies. LOL
