View Full Version : 1990 750iL Engine Swap Marc721 01-29-2007, 02:37 PM I just bought a 1990 750iL with a blown head gasket. I am looking for another engine. Perferably a V-12... swimstarguy 01-31-2007, 03:45 PM I hurt my knee pedaling my bike. I too am looking for a new engine, preferably a V-12. I think I remember hearing a few people talk about that engine on e30tech and r3vLimited, but they were all e30's. I can't be of much help other than that. Sorry. I'd check ebay and unlocked cars with your desired engine. ~Zar4 stirpicult 01-31-2007, 05:21 PM engine "conversions"... M70 V12 SOHC 24V. 1988-1994. 155kg 341lbs Used in E32 750il, 850i 5.0 (300bhp) you have the v12, so how about, if nothing else is bad, just swap the head gaskets. if not, www.car-part.com nonphixion 02-01-2007, 02:59 PM sounds like a nightmare in the making.... autophile 02-02-2007, 12:54 AM Sounds like fun! What's your budget? Are you looking for a BMW V12? (There aren't many other options.) Is the current engine a total loss? If it's rebuildable, that may be easier/cheaper than a new engine. Also, are you DIY, or will you hire the work done? Good luck! Fair 02-02-2007, 02:47 AM 750iL? Man, that big boat needs more than 5 liters of smoooth BMW V12 to move. Why not a 6.0L LS2? :D No! We don't make a kit for that car! :nono :stickoutt autophile 02-02-2007, 09:22 AM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-to-1991-BMW-750-Used-Engine-E32-750il-750i-M70_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQhashZitem320 077971274QQihZ011QQitemZ320077971274 M70 nobrakese36 02-10-2007, 02:17 PM My dads 750 e32 also has blown headgaskets!! MWrench 02-10-2007, 05:56 PM Early E32 750s had a tendency to break head bolts-followed by-- blown headgaskets. If the engine was not over heated, replace the gaskets and you should be fine, if overheated, good chance the engine has oval cylinders and can not be re-built! You don't bore out the alusil block, hardened material is only 0.003 to 0.007 thick, go thru that and you have an expensive wine rack! kesslerbmw 02-14-2007, 03:23 PM Man... About 6 months ago there was a 90 750 for sale for 700 bucks.. Motor ran great, but the tranny was trash. Im sure its gone. Would have been worth shipping the whole car and parting the rest. |
