So friday i was forced in to the tire shop. I blew a tire leaving emissions. Well I go and buy 2 rears so i can get home and drive the car if i need to before i get my wheels...

Anyways im usually that jerk that will stand and watch what there doing but after the day ihad i just didnt care to...I peeked in through the glass a few times but wasnt watching. I had washed the car the night before and after washing it 3 times in the past week )thinking i was going to have my truck back) I have found the dings. Well i was drying it off and found something interesting. The rockers in 4 spots were crushed. I couldnt believe it. We jacked the car up and looked under it while doing the suspension and found they didnt get it on the pads they just jacked it up on the area most would have a body fold. So i call the next day and talk to them. Im bringing it in to show them and see what they will do about it. Whats upsetting is i have had 2 cars at the longmont store. The first was my mk2 jetta and they ripped the sideskirts off. now this. I have had wheels in there and they have been fine but i couldnt do that this time.

I guess i will see what happens when i take it in there.

rant over for now.

This is why I always remove the wheels from the vehicle and bring them in seperately. They also don't clean up the hub/wheel mating surface :nono

Hope you are compensated in full for the damage to your car.

I have had discount screw up a couple of things on my old car and they compensated me for everything. Even a bent control arm that I didn't find out about until like a week later.

I had a nail hole plugged at that same store, and they somehow took three big chunks of rubber out of the face of the tire. They offered to replace the tire and I said they would have to replace both rear tires. The guy gave me some answer how he doesn't care, he'll just make it up on the next guy.:rolleyes How are they going to fix a bent frame rail?

Well today was the day. I talked to the guy who helped me on friday. I told him the story and we saw the car. He said there was too much rust on it for it to be new. I explained that i have washed my car like 3 times now thinking my truck would be done and back. I was forced to drive the car in the snow and the mag cloride crap is 3 times more corrosive then salt. He said that even if he thought that was true the marks dont look like a square i pointed out the line on the body where the dent is and even kinda got him when i said that because i told them to spin the fronts while i was there and the back was already in the air that the corner of the jack would hit first on the body making the dent and then a line that tappers off. He said thats true. So i tell him to feel how what i explained is shown under the body and after feeling it he tell me hes gotta talk to the tech and tells me he will be right back. He walks off and comes back. He said the tech remembered the car and that the rubber pads were not there. he went to the points where they were but while i was standing there watching them and now knowing where the jack points under the the car are they just went to the body. He told me he was sorry i felt they did it and if they had then they would cover it. I asked him how id get a straight line dent from discount tire to the car was to my house. I went over no bumps the car was not lowered at that point and when i washed it the paint that was now flaking(but hadnt the 3 times the past 2 days) gave it away. The bare metal that was not rusted on friday that has some from moisture and the mag cloride is where my paint was.

He asked me over and over if i just didnt notice it before and my answer was. I spent 8 hours buffing the car,2 hours waxing the car and about 5 hours cleaning the car so i could do the wax and buff. I know every dent ding scrach and chip in the car and it wasnt there when i washed the car Thursday night before this happend.

Im pissed and ready to do like the old lady did and return my tires.

I thinking im going ot write or call the main office. And rather then say of well i will cover some you cover some and it will be fixed im going for the whole thing. I said they should just cover the body work part and id cover the paint. hes stuck on it that they didnt do it and thats the end of the story.

Do what ever you can to raise hell.

Im sorry, actually Im not, but 95% of the people who work in oil change place, tire shops, and basic garages are incompentant, irresponsible, lazy, lying sleaze balls. The types of people who also associate any foreign brand with being expensive, even when its 10+ years old and treat it like crap.

Ill never forget the trail of oil I saw leaving the lot of quick lube place by my house that led all the way into my neighborhood, ending in a huge puddle.

yeah man, that blows nuts.

Discount put the wrong size tires on my ride. I have E36 M3 wheels on my E30 M3....and I told them to put 30's on to prevent from the wall of the tires from rubbing my struts. I told them 3 times... and they put some other *hit on there. didn't even notice since it was getting dark!! but the smoke and flames coming from my fenders was a good sign something was wrong.... wow! Not only do they not listen, but they don't check to see if the tires spin freely after installing them.

They did pay for new tires, wheels and new struts though witch was nice of them... oh btw it was the discount on havana in aurora

Cheers!

I think im going to call the main office. I have been really busy and havent had a chance to do much but im going to look the # up in a sec. Im tempted to take my trailer down because i just got tires on it and told them i needed a smaller size and i got the same size so again i have rubbing on it when my trucks on it. I dont think discount should touch cars. i will let everyone know what happens.

I worked one sumer at the Discount in Boulder and they tell everybody that works there that all BMW's must have those blocsk put under the jack points before the lift is raised. But they have chimps working there than don't know a banana from a tourqe wrench. It is totally their fault they know better. The manger at the Longmont store used to be the manger at the Boulder store. He is a jerk so don't expect hime to be real helpful. Just keep hammering on them that is why they have insurance.

I have delt with Rick before. I have to say hes a jerk but he didnt let me walk away pissed off. He took care of the bill and even pulled cash from the drawer rather then give me a check. I was shocked.

Anyways theres a new plan of action. I had a few guys that work there show up at my house. It was a friend that had them come by but anyways, One of them works there. I found out a few other guys i know and have worked with through the VW world do too. There talking to the guys that are running the show while ricks out sick. The guy that was there said the guy working on my car was new. He also said that the guy has no clue what hes doing and is supprised he can mount a tire. After i pulled the car in the garage the guy looked at it and said right away it looks like a print from there jack and looks like it has seen some weather and also told me that the city is using salt a lot now. he said that if it would be an old dent then it would look 100 times worse. so atleast they are on my side. The only one who is not from the sounds of it is the guy i talked to.

I am going to go down there this week when hes working and bring in the tires i just had thrown on my trailer and the bmw wheels in the bed of my truck. the kid said walk in and say i want to return them all and that i dont want anymore ties to discount. He said he will walk in and call me by name and ask what the problem is....acting like we only know eachother from me buying tires. he will look up my account that has all of my tires for the 4 cars i own the 3 i had this summer,my brothers car with wheels and tires on it and my dads 3 cars with his fleet of vans on it. After that pull the guy aside and point out how much money i spend there and how he feels it should be handled so i dont go someplace else. He was just promoted and the shop has been slow so he thinks they will go for it. If all else fails he will call the corperate office for me he said.

I had good luck with them. They did my wheels/tires on my NSX with no problems at all.

I've dealt with Rick for years as well. He's apparently a decent store manager; otherwise he wouldn't still be around. But I've had some situations where things didn't go right either, and the way he handled it made me feel like it was my fault THEY fucked up (even if ultimately he made good).

I usually take my tire business to Boulder these days, and try to work directly with Pete at the Tire Source. But, they have to hire young guys or people who barely speak English as well. Unfortunately the last set of wheels I brought them, the fresh powdercoating I'd just had done got chipped up - nowhere near the edge of the wheel, so it was just 100% carelessness. I doubt Pete or his son did that job.

In the winter, they're so busy and understaffed that I can't wait around and ask Pete to do it himself. In fact, the Tire Source is not a place to go if you're not fairly patient and flexible with the time the work you need will take. But, they're really nice people, they're locally owned, and they support the local road racers and autocrossers, so I try to give them all of my business. BTW, you can rent a fender-rolling tool from them as well - I used it on my M3.

It totally sucks when your car gets jacked up by a shop (for people like us, who actually LOVE their cars). It happened to me years ago, when I drove from Boulder to Englewood or something to have Mr. Two's Performance install a Greddy IC in my MR2. I found a dent in my rocker panel over six months later they had caused with sloppy jack work, but I didn't see it because of how low down on the car it was (I couldn't even see it when I washed it).

By the time I discovered it, when I'd started doing my own work on the car, it was too late to talk to them about it - Jon had gone out of business by then. :confused
