I'm going to keep looking into this thread but here is some info on something else you might be interested in. http://www.autolumination.com/bmw/bmw.htm there only LEDs and it will take some electrical magic to get the dome light to work.

LEDs cant run backwards, as in negative on positive and vice-versa. For some reason BMW made the cars like this, maybe its auto electrical...

I just bought LEDs from eBay.

All working no worries and makes the interior look more modern. Surely they are not true Xenon doesn't that mean you would need a ballast like the headlights.

haha well I guess your right, but I always noticed how LED's alwas flick on or flick off.. but I guess they are dim when they are low on power/ battery so I guess its the same thing.. I was thinking about how led side blinkers blink rather then gradually turning on/off

Surely they are not true Xenon doesn't that mean you would need a ballast like the headlights.

They're not true Xenon lights, they still have a filament in them, put simply they are just normal halogen bulbs (like the ones all of you have now) but with a blue tint on the glass. They call them Xenon because the colour resembles the typical Xenon white.

In the end if you buy those you're paying a premium for some blue tint... I would expect it to have less output as well (same reasoning with blue tinted headlight bulbs).
