I getting ready to paint my s50 e30 m3 and looking into getting 18" or 17" rims... I'm looking for some input on which to get.. I'm not familiar with offset and what will fit.. I do plan on lowering it.

Thanks.

If you want 18'' go with M Parrelells (sp). They look the part and are only 18 +/- pounds. And they look awsome. Or you can go with style 5's, and depending on the color. BBS RGRS are great too (im partial to those, I had them on mine)

Personally, I think 18" is a little much on E30s, but of course, to each his own. My fave is the 17" Style 5 from E34/E39. These are 17x8 ET20 and fit without spacers (rattle clips on front brakes need to be removed). I like these because they resemble the original wheels, but are two-piece and have a nice lip (see my sig). They are also available as 18", but those are rare. M-parallels and the BBS Style 42 also look good. Lots of pics of various wheels on s14.net, if it ever comes back up.

not lighter than the stock m3 wheels - anything 18 in. is overkill IMO for daily use. I say go for:

BBS LM's
BBS RS's
factory e30 m3 16in. sport evo wheels/euro wheels

18's look cool - but unless you're rocking a BBK or something they looks really dumb. On top of that - they are very clost to rubbing on an e30, and simply don't look right on a daily road going car.

I think blining out an e30 m3 is pretty retarded - save that for e36/e46 cars that are more luxury oriented in the first place.

Mr. MPowerM3: What offset are you running on the M Parallels and any spacers needed? What tire size did you run and I presume those tucked fenders have been rolled? thanks for all your posts... I'm absoultely ga-ga over the parallels.

There stock wheels from a 740 sport for the most part, but were on some 750's and 8er's along the way. The wheels fit perfect with absolutely no spacers or hubcentric rings, only problem is you need to find just the fronts from you go OEM (OEM on the 7 and 8er's were staggered). But those are the 17 lbs wheels. Ryan's car (those arent mine, although the red one use to be) is running replicas, kinda heavy at 23ish pounds but a quarter of the price. Tire sizes are 225/35/18. It shouldnt rub unless you have aggressive camber in the front, and even still you should be ok. Load up the car and you'll be in trouble!! Let me know if you need anything else.

I said lighter then most stock wheels, not all. I understand where your coming from, but a street driven e30 m3 which isnt even daily driven, mostly seeing small trips and car shows, looks awsome with those wheels. Your a pursist and we know this, but dont hate on someone else trying new things. If you also notice Ryan has rs' on the vert and RGR's on the red car. He knows where the priorities are. In the trunk of the swartch car is also two hundred pounds of stereo equipment. Which hurts performace even more.

So we know where your coming from but please, no hating is required.

I think 16s look the best on an E30.

Nice choice on the RZ469s, M-technik-3. If you bend a wheel, a replacement is rarely more than $75 or so, and there are plenty of 740iL wheels out there.

There are some 16x8.5 BBS RZs with a SICK lip on them, that I've seen on German Ebay from time to time.

Yeah, I know I passed on Markus's set while I was in Germany last month. Wife caused us to have a financial set back of my play money so I could not purchase them at the time.

Only issue is tire size for 16's for our car are limited, on that note thou 17's seem undertired if you want the proper speedo/odo set up.

Good luck finding track rubber in 16" for our cars. 15" or 17". Not 16" or 18". The throwing stars don't look right but the M Parallels are pretty nice.

Yeah, there aren't many 16" tire choices, though they do make the Hankook R-S2s and Kumho SPTs in 225 45 R16.

For the time being I'm probably gonna stick with 15" stock wheels. Cheap tires. :D

Yokohama Advan A048 are available in 225/45 R16, IIRC. Of course, that's pretty much the only choice you have. :(

Keep the 15's for track/auto X and use the 16's for steet.

Let me clarify - I'm looking at some m parallels with ET14 - will they fit or do I need a different offset - or even is there another offset?

That should fit just fine, if there stock OEM wheels they'll fit perfect with nothing at all. Even replica wheels.
