Okay, crazy question. Are there any tracks in the NC area or close that are like the Nurburgring in Germany, what I mean is, a track that you can just show up, on an off race day, and pay to do laps?
I want to take my car to the track, but I don’t want to pay $300 ish dollars to do it, aka driving school or class.

Negative. I would strongly advise you go to a driving school anyways. Do a Tarheel CCA event at VIR. The next one is in early March, although it is probably full now. The only other open road I can think of is the Tail of the Dragon, Rt. 129 on the NC/TN border. That is as good as it gets in this country.

I think it is now SA2000 helmet and $300. They offer great instruction and a very well run, safe event. You could also look up Tarheel Sports Car Club or look at trackschedule.com for other similar events at VIR, CMP, Roebling, Rockingham, or Road Atlanta.
