View Full Version : tire size on a e38 with 20's series 01-27-2007, 08:08 PM I have a set of 20's 8.5front/9.5back staggered. What tire size would i need with a 1.5" drop?thanks 98M3_4 01-27-2007, 09:20 PM 235 or 245/35 front, 265 or 275/30 rear you could also go down to 30 series up front and 25 series in the rear series 01-28-2007, 11:40 PM I know this sounds dumb but in 30 a large profile than 35? thanks ohnoes 01-29-2007, 02:06 AM I know this sounds dumb but in 30 a large profile than 35? thanks ... 30 refers to the sidewall size, which is measured as a ratio of sidewall height to tire width. So, a 30-series sidewall for a 275mm tire is 82.5mm tall. A 35-series sidewall for the same-size tire is 96.25mm tall. To answer your question, the 35-series sidewall is "larger profile" than the 30-series one. Jim@tirerack 01-29-2007, 11:19 AM The 20" needs to be a 255/35R20 to keep the load capacity and the height of the tire the same as stock. Strahan 01-29-2007, 04:44 PM I run 245-35 in the front and 285-30 out back. No drop though, so I can't attest to rubbing/not rubbing. Jim@tirerack 01-29-2007, 04:53 PM Those sizes are fine as well but they are a little shorter. |
