I wanted to post an FYI about this, since a lot of people might be interested. I don't work for this company, and they aren't a sponsor of bimmerforums.
Recaro periodically makes brand new SRD's for Speedware Motorsports. Yes, the SRD's are discontinued, but since Speedware can purchase a few hundred at a time, Recaro still makes them on occasion (this is what Speedware told me).
In February '07, Speedware is getting another shipment of brand new SRD's. Their phone salesmen told me they would sell a pair of SRD's for 1000$ plus shipping.
I put my name down on their list, with no upfront money required. When they get the shipment in during mid-Feb, I plan on buying some new SRD's.

The website says they aren't doing the 1000$/pair anymore, but there sales guy told me they would do it. I hope he wasn't mistaken!
