Since the Sunbelt chapter is still rather small and there isn't really a DE program, I was hoping to reach out to you guys. We're trying to get things rolling and have one guy (iflytii on here) who will be on point for driving events. We can work on setting things up at Hallett if you can bring some students and instructors... really need the instructors. Also, we'd love to be part of your events at Heartland Park in Topeka and events in STL.

Thanks!

For starters, following is a schedule for the Heartland Park Topeka HPDE dates for 2007.

Note: the KC Porsche Club allows no Porsches to attend their events.

Always check the host Club's websites for any updates or changes.

The Super 8 at Forbes Landing, ~ 1 mile North of HPT, will be the host Hotel for all 5 events. In appreciation of our 2006 business, they are holding the $54.99 (+ tax) rate over from last year!!!

KC Audi - March 23-25

KC Porsche - April 20-22 Club Race and Checked-off Advanced Students Only

KC Porsche - June 22-24

KC BMW - Aug 10-12

KC Porsche - October 19-21

At present, the KC BMW Club only has one event scheduled. We are still looking at the possibility of a second event, either at HPT or another track. Hallett would be my personal pick for "other" tracks. I love Hallett! Regardless of where we hold a HPDE, it will a complete Drivers School with classroom and top notch in car Instruction! We pride ourselves in the fact that most of our Instructors have been formally trained to Instruct!

Have any of you talked with Vern A out of Tulsa or Chris G from OK City? Both are E36 ///M3 BMW Club racers and could be very helpful in planning a DE at Hallett.

The biggest issue we had at the last two HPDE's we had there were getting the quality of Instructors we want to make the trip to Hallett. Without the proper number of Instructors, there is no school. Vern and Chris might be of great help recruiting Instructors.

Hallett was to be a point of discussion at our HPDE Committe meeting. I will give an update after we meet.

Hey everyone! I was out of the loop for the latter half of 2006 with a crazy work schedule. Getting back into the game for 2007. I would love to work with some folks on a Hallett HPDE. The Sunbelt BMWCCA chapter is small, but active, but we don't have enough mass of students or instructors to do our own event - I'd love to partner with some other groups on something. Hallett is a great track. Ken, I saw your email about this, sorry I haven't responded sooner. The Sunbelt Chapter will be hosting a BMWCCA Club Race at Hallett on Memorial Day Sat-Sun, May 26-27 (the BMWCCA CR schedule isn't updated on the website yet, it still says Sept). But that's just a club race, it's with COMMA, so no room for any other groups, our club race group will be one run group as a guest of COMMA. They do have other weekend's open though.

Bob has the autox schedule finalized for the OKC Sheriff's training facility.

Anyway, let's figure out how to get a Hallett HPDE this year, maybe in the second half of the year.

Chris has moved to Austin, but I'm sure he could still help out if needed. There are a small handful of experienced drivers and instructors in OK/Ark, but not too many.

Anyway, I gotta run, but wanted to post something to let you guys know I was still alive!!! And the ///M3 lives!!! I had it out Tuesday night around the airport and gave it a good thrashing.

Cheers all.

Vern

There's a thread on the STLBMW local forum with track dates around the area. Check it periodically because we are adding updates.

Sweet, Vern lives :D If we can, maybe get Hallett in May? I know the race is happening at the end of May, but looking at that calendar of events posted for HPT, it may be a nice fit. Just a matter of timing I guess... and people of course.

Vinny - that's a great looking schedule. Hopefully people from the Sunbelt can jump in on some.

I was signed up for the original date but couldn't attend the make-up date ;) Besides, it's supposed to be an annual thing, isn't it?

I looked at the Hallett schedule, looks like every weekend is booked at least until November. We need to play 2008 now, so we can get a weekend reserved.

Wow... that kinda sucks. Guess you can't wait till the same year to book for these things. Of course, booking for 2008 gives us more time to work on a student base and instructors.

I know March 23 - 25 is probably too close for me to attend something, but other than that, I would check the audi club sites if no one has info here.

Thanks, I actually contacted them last week and signed up, I forgot to update this thread. I enjoyed instructing there last March, I'm looking forward to it again. Let's hope the weather's nice, maybe a little warmer than last year, and just as dry....

Awesome, Vern!! We really enjoyed your visit last year to HPT and it'll be a blast to see you again! Can't wait until the event!

Yes, if we can get an order into the weather desk now I'd say same conditions as last year, minus some of the wind, eh? :)

Minus the wind and about 15-20 degrees warmer would be perfect. Let's keep the cold temps for the beer at the Blind Tiger.......

What? The PCA doesn't let P-cars run? They wouldn't let me even get a membership until I had a valid Porsche VIN. That lead me to this question: WTF are your speaking of?

1999 BMW M3 Vert | 2002 M Coupe | 1994 BMW 525i | 1982 Porsche 944 | 1985 Chevy Suburban | 1992 Pontiac Firebird

I'm guessing it was a typo - he likely meant "non-Porsches". I know several huge PCA regions on the east coast were P-car-only, no exceptions. However, most of the smaller PCA regions allow non-P-cars to help fill their events.
