View Full Version : Value of a ti?
btonns 01-23-2007, 11:54 AM Another fellow 318ti.org member and I have been talking about a certain '98 ti Sport with 73k miles. The car is in good condition, except it has a re-built title. The owner is vague upon details of the accident. When I did the Car Fax report, the report said the accident occured at 52k miles or so. The owner said the passenger door, front and rear quarter panels were replaced. The paint is a slightly different shade of black. He was originally asking $7,500 for the car, but when I found out it was a re-built title, he lowered the price to $6,400.
How much is this car indeed worth?
Mad Machine 01-23-2007, 01:49 PM my ti was hit on the passengerside. As far as I can tell, the front fender and door have been replaced and the rear quarter was sliced along the rubbing strip and new metal welded into place.
mine is a 96 that I paid 4500 for with 97,000 miles
Mine was also beat on suspension wise... so I would offer 5500 and see if he bites. If not, 6000 might not be out of the question, depending on how well the car was rebuilt. Take it to a mechanic?
btonns 01-23-2007, 02:21 PM It seemed to be re-built pretty good, but what I am concerned about is the value of the car. If I were to pay 6,400 for the car and I get into a wreck, I want to ensure I would only lose 200-400 max on the money I would get from insurance. I heard insurance companies only insure 50-75% of a re-built titled car's value. That is what scares me..so I would want to make sure I only pay 80% of what the car is worth in case I would total it.
Mad Machine 01-23-2007, 07:54 PM well, being rebuilt like that, I doubt you are going to get what you want if that happens.
btonns 01-23-2007, 11:40 PM How much money do you think I would get if I totalled it?
Alpine 318is 01-24-2007, 06:36 PM thats alot. I would think it would be less.
O-Dogg 01-24-2007, 07:38 PM How much money do you think I would get if I totalled it?
My guess inbetween $2500-3500 and not much more than that. There is no way in hell you'll lose just $200-400,just cause you buy it for 6500 doesn't mean it's worth that.
btonns 01-24-2007, 11:30 PM I am just looking for a realistic price for this car..I think 3,000 is too low and 6,400 is too high because of the title.
kickass95318ti 01-25-2007, 06:02 PM if 3k is to low and 6400 is to high then try 4500-5000
airynhenry 02-10-2007, 02:19 AM i picked up my ti 95 with 120k miles well kept for 5k and well it was worth it fer sure
windnsea00 02-10-2007, 02:54 AM Got my current `97 Ti last May with 94k miles on the clock for $6k even...decent price but nothing to write home about.
RSR318TI 02-10-2007, 12:42 PM My 95 has 133k on it and i paid 1500 for it. being that the car has a rebuilt title you dont really know how bad the car has been damaged. i would say around 2000 to 3000 maybe 3500 at the most.
angel318ti 02-11-2007, 04:17 AM I would only offer 5,000 for it. anything over that you can find another car in that price range.
btonns 02-11-2007, 04:36 PM I was considering offering 5700 or so since it is a sport model and it has low mileage and a rare interior combination (black/red instead of black/grey).
beemertech136 02-15-2007, 10:31 PM i have a 97 ti with 138,000 miles on it... my car blue books at 6500 as my bank just ran it 2 weeks ago.... so its not totally out of the question if the car is worth that much...
btonns 02-16-2007, 02:38 AM Yeah, but you have to keep in mind that the only I am looking at has a rebuilt title (so it only retains a maximum of 75% of bluebook value).
phillynative70 02-17-2007, 07:48 PM I got my '96 ti with 72K at an auction for 3200. I also checked CARFAX and everything seems to be in order. The re-built title is really going keep the price low, in my opinion; so try to get it for as little as possible
