Its possible, but everything is gonna have to be custom made...

I thought about it, but its more practical to swap a 4.0 and build it for a supercharger. You will end up getting 500+hp that is alot more reliable and easier to tune for about the same cost as custom building all of your turbo components, IMO of course.

if you have tons of cash and plenty of time, go for it.

There have been a select few twin-turbo 4.0's made, if you come across one of those i dont see it being that much different for a 3.0.

ESS Tuning makes a supercharger... doesn't put it that far above a 4.0 swap though.

I own a 530 but I'm thinking of building a 4 liter turbo M60, witch is the same process since they are close cousins. I'm now suffering from mental fatigue trying to overcome all the glitches, but I have not said my last word.
Problem #1 exhaust, not even half a problem since I'm welding so custom 8in 1 stainless manifold is appropriate.
Problem #2 compression is high, well engine needs to be overhauled, can't put any pistons on a nikasil/alusil plating, next solution bore the cylinders and set dry sleeves, poor heat transfer, then bore the hell out of the cylinders and install wet sleeves, 1500 $ custom darton sleeves, 600 $ worth of machining and 1000 $ custom pistons.
Problem #3 ECU, ditch it and run a standalone. MS or whatever can fire the bigger injectors and coil packs.
Problem #4 fitting a manual because the stock ZF slushbox will toast and automatics are gay, fitting pedal clusters, wiring, high torque clutch. (stockers slips).
Problem #5 since the cost is prohibitive I will probably sell the car and get a manual 328is and start from there.
But, for the love of the sound of an angry turboed V8 and the fact that not much people did this, it may be worth it.
SC are good to build the small pressure that the stock engine can take (prolly to 9 psi on 94 octane), but I want more.
M60B40 have forged internals that would make the engine bulletproof and able to put down 600-700 hp with the sleeves and low comp pistons, witch sounds like a sweet deal.

You guys should not even waste time thinking about 8-1 turbo manifolds in an E34 engine bay because of room and general practicality. Even running a twin turbo setup would be a headache - scrap it all. Instead making a custom exhaust that goes from the dual to a single 2.5 - 3" pipe and then mount the turbo in the back where the muffler used to be. Run the charge pipe back up to the front of the car. Run an oil feed and an oil pump for the return. Intercool it however you want (a long air to water would work great). That'd be the simplest method.

There is a pretty nice hole where the airbox and washer tank is, this is where I was looking to put the gt40 or 42. left bank should come forward and under the engine trough a double wall stainless pipe for heat retention. The compressor would discharge right in the intercooler reducing a lot the charge pipes volume compensating for the weaker exhaust design. It would also breathe fresher air. Definitely not done yet budget considerations are pushing for a car swap.

Thats where my turbo is - its hard enough on an e3 525i to get it there let alone a V8. Your TB is at the front so that will make IC piping interesting.

what size are ur intercooler?

will a 3" depth x 12" height and about 2ft long fit behind the front bumper?
