View Full Version : Angel Eye Bulb Upgrade
Stack24 01-19-2007, 11:58 PM Anyone tried these bulbs by PIAA? I see them at BAVAUTO.com to upgrade from the yellow look to the white look. I noticed them on Ebay and they also said they have the Warning light bypass built in?
Is that something that errors on the BMW if you put in the wrong type of bulb?
I already have the Xenon lights but hate the yellowish tint.

Jim530i 01-21-2007, 12:23 AM I have a question. I'm about to buy the Piaa from Umnitza, but if this product is gonna be shipped to hong kong, does it still carry the lifetime warrenty?

Dinan330ic 01-21-2007, 02:13 AM omg, that's sweeeeet!!!! were they hard to install?
DarthMaul 01-21-2007, 02:23 AM i got impatient and didn't want to wait for the Umnitza ICE so i bought a pair from bavauto for like $150 (i think they are $200 from Umnitza, right?)
anyways, they look good at night but are a little hard to see unless it's really dark (that's my only complaint). other than that they are excellent quality and simple to install (2 mins total).
are any of these worth over $100 for two tiny bulbs? i doubt it but no one makes anything comparable!

Very easy install, however the only gripe I initially had where the poor written instructions, but once you read it about 2x then you got the idea. It is designed to use the supplied wire taps and simply "tap" into the existing wire harness. As I had mentioned before the one thing I still don't understand is why Umnitza didn't create the same harness plug to simply make it a true "plug-n-play" instead tapping into the wire harness.
Otherwise, the results speak for themselves....now I have to upgrade that ugly " Day time running light! UMNITZA HELP!...here is what I mean check out the photo.
I wonder if there is a way to disable the low light DRL and instead use my AE's as the DRL's???
DRL w/Upgraded AE 6000k light output.

I can't speak for the BAVauto kit you bought, but the ones I have from UMNITZA look good at both day and night and don't require a midnight black to see them. They are VERY bright and produce a nice color that matches my OEM HID's.

yes, but you have to take the car to a dealer so they can hook it up to the sss and turn off the drl's. don't let them burn you on the price of the labor. i do it all the time at work and takes me about 15min to do.
nightkrawler 01-21-2007, 07:52 AM i'd like to see a product developed to replace the bulbs in the depo ae's with led bulbs for those of us who don't have the chrominum rings. i have a hid kit in there already and don't wan't anymore wiring in the engine compartment. just a brighter/whiter set of bulbs to replace the ones in there now.
Bmw530i408 01-21-2007, 05:42 PM Nice rims what kind are they? And what is your ext. color?

There is, the Predator ThinLine kit replaces those items.
Still waiting on the plug and play harness from umnitza for the ver.1 of ice. :shifty
We have to avoid patent infringement on the AMP connectors. So we have to redesign a unit that looks appreciably different.
I have a question. I'm about to buy the Piaa from Umnitza, but if this product is gonna be shipped to hong kong, does it still carry the lifetime warrenty?
Get the ICE instead, you'll be happier and the warranty does apply no matter where you are.

Get the DRL disabled. Good idea.
nightkrawler 01-22-2007, 11:33 PM no, i mean just upgraded bulbs to replace the ones in the depo ae's. the use multiple individual bulbs to illuminate the ring.
