What is the difference between SMG II and SMG?
Car has 47k It has extended BMW warranty until 100k,One of the window seal is falling apart, Are the window seals covered under warranty?

SMGII replaced SMG which was on the E36. Do not know the details on what are the differences between two.
The window seal won't be covered under 100k miles extended warranty.

Engine, drivetrain, mechanical stuff (A/C compressor, steering rack etc.).
Wear items not covered. And I think there is a $50 copay per service.

If it's a CPO, it should be covered.. I think you are referring to the front door seal, which is a common problem with the E46's. I got mine covered but that was under the 4 year/50k mile warr.

yea the trim is annoying...if you live in any kind of heat and dont have a AC'd garage it will fall out in now time...good thing they shorted in putting enviro friendly glue in it

nope....that warranty is just on the drivetrain. The CPO cover a 'little' bit more. ( through 6yr/100k)

OK call me dumb, but if this car has Factory BMW extended warranty til 100k then I don't understand how it is different than the CPO, or is it because CPO you get if you buy it at a BMW dealer?

CPO you get from a dealer and covers only mechanical. Factory BMW warranty that is extended covers everything bumper to bumper. Factory>CPO

The only factory extended warranty I've heard of for the M3 is the extended warranty on the engine, never an extended warranty that covered the car bumper to bumper....

My recommendation to you is to get this in WRITING from your dealership. Also, take the VIN to a BMW dealership and confirm with them that the factory warranty has been extended.

I fear that the dealer is trying to sell you the "6/100k engine warranty" as some sort of extended factory warranty, which as others have pointed out, is simply not the case.

For the 2001-2003 model years, a special 6/100k warranty was provided on "oil lubricated parts". So, basically the engine. This warranty was in response to two recalls that impacted portions of the 2001-2003 model year vehicles. Some cars were subject to both recalls and some actually escaped the recall, based on their production month. BMW's decision was to cover all cars in the three model years (nice because I have a 2003.5 that escaped the recalls but benefits from the 6/100k coverage).
