View Full Version : M3 MAF development
Brody 01-19-2007, 05:32 AM Brody here from Millerperformancecars.com,
We were wondering if there is anyone in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland BC area with an e30 M3 who would like to receive a Free Miller MAF as part of our development program? We have the e30 M20 MAF in full production as well as the e32/e34 M30 MAF and the e24/e28 M5 and M6.
So, if your in the area, even in the state of Washington and you are relatively close to us please let us know. We would love to have an M3 MAF available to the public and we would really appreciate some ones help for development.
Thanks,
-Brody-

Brody 01-29-2007, 08:47 PM Thanks to a local M3, we have finished the s14 MAF system! It is now a production part and ready for those of you who want it.

jdbunda 02-02-2007, 01:23 PM Hi Brody - this looks like a sweet installation, very nice. I see from your the web site that using this system requires replacing my chip. Do you mind answering some questions about that? How were the maps you are using generated? Were they from toyotahachiroku's car, or from several S14s? Do you have any before/after dyno results? How aggressive is the map? How many cars do you have it installed in, and how well does it work? Is it 91-octane compatible? Or 93-only?
Toyotahachiroku, thanks for the info here and on s14.net/emergencyforums. Just an aside - were you running a stock chip prior to the Miller system?

The chip that was in the car to start with was a stock chip. We use a software that allows us to adjust any or all of the chip info, we cant say how or with what because that is proprietary. The engines stock maps are pretty aggressive to begin with and you can only get away with a moderate timing increase. As for the fuel maps, they are way smoother. We have just tested it on the one s14. It was in amazing shape, had a completely stock engine and was still very solid. It doesn't need to be installed on more than one s14 to know that it works with stock. And yes we can get it tuned for 91 octane instead of 94 like we used.

jdbunda 02-02-2007, 03:23 PM Did you mean 93? I've never seen 94!!!
Brody 02-02-2007, 07:10 PM In Canada all our stations carry 87 89 91 and usually yes, 94 octane gas. We know its hard to find in the states.

Well, here in Austin, TX, it's not just hard, it's impossible :D. So let me ask the next obvious question - would I need a different version of your chip to run on US 93 octane?
Also - the description on your web site says I would need to splice in to the wires on the AFM connector. I gather you were not able to design this to just plug into that connector. Is it possible/difficult to wire it so that the AFM can be easily put back in place if needed?
It happens I will be coming through Vancouver in two weeks - unfortunately not in my M3, or I'd stop in!

Dan Miller 02-07-2007, 05:43 PM You would not need a different chip, it will be minimal difference in the fuel quality. And yes it is easy to wire in the maf and also keep the stock AFM plug connected. just need to use a little common sense.
matty21 02-07-2007, 10:39 PM I would like to try it out. Very interested!
details please:)
im in edmonton alberta and would like to try it on my 88 M3
thanks
