They took a full day's worth of work with a crafty technician, but well worth the effort! (Thanks Bevis!!):buttrock
I was a lil apprehensive about swapping my cozy heated electric seats for these spartan bucket seats, but it was well worth it.:stickoutt
If you are slender and not too thick in the midsection:redspot , these seats are ideal. I went to the fabric store and picked up some 1 inch thick foam padding to beef up the cushions and add more lumbar support. This worked out perfectly, and the seats are now perfect and comfortable for daily driving. I've even had 2 different comment very positively on them. And if she can't fit, she shouldn't be ridin'...:nono

If anyone wants more details, don't hesitate to PM me.

Cheers,

Greg

Damn...those look supportive for tight cornering. Looks sweet in the interior too.

how is your access to the rear seat?

Access to rear is limited... A small women or a svelte man can fit back there with some acrobatics. But to be honest, I don't really care.

I forgot to mention that the stock seats weighed just over 60lbs each with the floor mounts etc. The new seats weigh 30lbs with respective mounts and hardware. So a 60lb savings.
The exhaust was about 45lbs so about 100 or so pounds off the car.
I'd love to take another 100 off.
Perhaps trunk, light weight battery instead of the 50lb monster...
More projects...

Actually I want to keep those crests because I will be bringing these seats into my Twin Turbo Porsche that I will be trading the M3 for in about a year if all works out according to plan!:buttrock

Thanks for the compliments guys!

They'd still look cool in the Porsche without the crests - kind of stealthy. A black de-badged Porsche would be pretty cool, I think. I was shocked how many people used to ask me what kind of car my 911 was! Then there was the girl that asked me if it was some sort of Karmann Ghia "because I had one and they have the engine in the back too."

My reply? "Yep."

Is that your attempt at not getting me to test them out when I get home in a week???:lol I am pretty sure I can wedge my fat arse in those bitches with some crisco and a large clamp. Might need a crow bar to get me out tho....:evil2

On a serious note, they look great!:buttrock How much did you pay Beavis for the work? 2 lawn mows and a baggie? HaHa! I am coming home next fri. for 4 days is you are going to be around.

As much as I love BMWs, they just are not built like the Porsches. I swear, that if the subframe on the M3 fails, I will total the car. That will have been the 3rd failed subframe!! Unforgiveable!!:nono

Congrats, looking good :).

Those MUST be lighter than the orig. seats, right? If so, do you know how much lighter?
Edit: Oops, nvm, you already posted the specs!

Dude, the Porsche had approx 2.6 times the factory horsepower added 8 years after being built, and stood that power for 7 years without a hickup. THAT'S ENGINEERING!!
My bimmers' subframes go after doing a chip and an intake!

You don't see or notice them. Remember when you are standing outside the car, the crest is hidden under the roof line.
It doesn't even cross my mind in the least.:)

i think the crests look bad ass and it is like a personal momento showing his personal likes...i think they look like they were meant to be in that car. nice job and very well done. and yea who cares about the back seat those cars werent made to have more than two in them anyways!! love it!!!

I personally would put Duct Tape over the crests. It is as bad as when people put P-car brakes on BMWs :pissed What's next, go from a BMW to Corvette??:rolleyes

It is fairly straightforward, yet requires some savvy and a great sense of logic.
I ordered the following parts from www.speedwaremotorsports.com:
-RECARO Sliders without Height Adjust
-SPEEDWARE Aluminum Seat Side Mounts (required drilling)
-RECARO Floor Mounts

-Occupancy mat from BMW

You will also need some additional hardware (allen bolts, nuts and washers) which I can't remember specifics on.
If you google or do forums searches you can find some specifics on the actual install.

It's a great addition to the car if you dont mind having a tougher time getting in and out. Then again if you owned a Ferrari 360 Stradale, it would be the same thing!:buttrock

Nice sig picture... Le Mans is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Like I said before the logos don't bother me in the least. I've had Porsches before and I will again..:)
Thanks for the kind words..

Can't wait for spring for auto x season!

The funny thing is, for me for some reason, these seats are more comfy than my old stock seats. The bottom of the seat is not flat, it is rounded, so it cradles your arse nicely. The factory seats are just flat, and don't feel comfy to me.
OK getting in and out is a lil pain, but worth it to me.
I do love the look as well.
