View Full Version : Setting clock...wow
sonomaGTLN2 01-17-2007, 06:53 PM Ok, so I'm still a n00b:rolleyes . I was surprised the search turned up nothing for this but anyways...how do you set the digital clock in the gauge cluster ('83)? Im an electrical engineer, you'd figure i could solve this problem myself, but ive tried different coherent methods and still can't figure it out.
Thanks,
AJ
PS...speaking of n00bs...and instead of writing a new thread, with all the newbies posting their E36 questions here, i wonder what would happen if an E21 driver would post on one of their forums? Do you think they'd get flamed pretty bad? It would be a good test to see how different model drivers react people with misplaced questions. Granted, we've seen our share of mis-posts here, so we are fed up, but im just wondering how they would react over on the E36 forum.
Crusty320 01-17-2007, 07:26 PM :lol use a pen tip or something smaller/thinner and push it into the little holes on the clock doowickey thingy at the bottom right of the the instrument bezel ....find it?
:nutz: :nuts ...jk

i tried...that didnt work for me:(. Maybe i'll just unplug the battery at 12:00 and synch it that way.
Crusty320 01-17-2007, 07:35 PM try something smaller like a finishing nail...I had to mess with mine..a pen was to big...maybe a really small allen key..??
if not....someone on here can hook you up with a new (let's call it) clock adjuster?? lol...the circle part...
or maybe it came unhooked from behind the cluster?
check that out 2....
TheNeek 01-17-2007, 07:39 PM Mine was broken for a long time. It might not neccesarily be operator error.

the clock turns on and all, ive just been trying to figure out how to fix it. ive just been telling unknowing (and gullable) people that its some technical gauge that only my car has if they ask.
sonomaGTLN2 01-17-2007, 08:25 PM hey neek how much are you selling that truck for? im not looking to get one now, but in the future it's a definate possibility.
kdanielson 01-17-2007, 10:43 PM My clock pops up random numbers on each start... I use the one in the CD player.

TwilightNova 01-17-2007, 11:12 PM I can't find anything myself, thought I'd seen it before while I was browsing.

Thats a pretty damn good method.
UberNoob 01-18-2007, 01:53 AM mine resets to 12:00 everytime I start the car, so it's more like a timer than a clock to see how long my trip has been, lol.
It was working perfectly, but it would stay on with the car off so I cut one of the wires from the hazard switch and now the clock acts that way, the dome light doesn't work anymore either.
The hazard switch works fine otherwise and the blinkers are good, I have no idea, I thought it was the ignition switch as diagnosed by someone else on here, but the problem went away with the hazard button disconnected so I figure it has to be something wrong with the hazard switch.
I can't believe how many systems run through that button, what a horrible design.

AlaskaBimmer 01-18-2007, 01:51 PM My analog clock is supprisingly accurate....much more so than the digital one in the Baur.

I'd sell for 13,500. I have tons of Typhoon parts that go with it.

Have you put this on eBay yet? There are plenty of people out there who would want this car. Its really clean.
MattE21 01-18-2007, 02:19 PM My clock also just took a shit this week. It is now stuck on 1:00. And i also lost all the lights on my center console. :dunno
This car is giving me much grief lately.

There are lights on the center console? I only knew about the hazard one, which stopped working.

I ain't paying ebay a percentage of the selling price.
blitzed310 01-18-2007, 03:05 PM I dont think there is a percentage on Cars. I think its a flat rate of $35. Not sure though.
edit/ from eBay Motors FAQ:
The basic listing fee is $40 for a car, truck, or other passenger vehicle. There is no final value fee in eBay Motors, but there is a $40 transaction fee that is charged when bidding meets your reserve price.
