just installed my E-Boost 2 that i bought used. a son as the solenoid sees boost it starts making clicking noises. pretty audible as im inside and the solenoid is under the hood mounted on the passenger side engine bay. i know its hooked up correctly per the documentation for external wastegate.

i ran all AN fittings and SS lines so no chances of broken rubber lines.

the solenoid appears to be working somewhat correctly because it responds to changes i make for increased boost and sensitivity, just makes this annoying clicking and i want to know if it means its damaged or on its way out.

anyone else in here know what im talking about? or hear clicking from their solenoid as well?

You have just experienced the problem or.....issue(?) with an analog or PID controller controlling a digital (on-off) actuator.

Thats whats nice about Blitz and HKS boost controllers.

They use a stepper motor which opens and closes proportionately depending on how much the controller determins it should. This is where your "Gain" adjustment comes into play even more so. If you want your boost more agressive, the PID controller holds the stepper closed closer to the target boost threashold then actuates it a certain amount to where it knows the boost will be regulated. And since it only opens the amount to hold THAT boost setting, it doesnt have to close or open more to hold boost.

Solenoid (on-off) valves have to pulse on and off at a pulse width and duty cycle the controller determines is required to bleed off boost pressure to maintain your target boost.

Typically, stepper valve control units are much more accurate and repeatable in regards to boost and boost response.

Theyre also much safer at higher boost levels due to their proportional control of the boost signal.

Got it?

:)

so your saying that the Eboost 2 unit is not going to be accurate at high boosat levels because of the type of solenoid it uses? even though many race cars use these same units to run over 40-60 psi of boost with no issues?
