So my M3 has been in the shop for three weeks tomorrow. It started out with a whirling/ rythmatic clicking noise in the front of the engine. So, BMW replaced the vanos which made the noise quitter. Now, they are taking out the cams, has anyone else had this problem or know what the problem could possibly be?

well yours is an 05 so not effected by the bearing recall otherwise id say have them check something out with that...maybe something still went wrong though..i remember reading abotu someone having a problem with that and it making a weird clicking/ticking sound.

Or as they are already checking maybe something to do with the cams/chain?

I hope for your wallets sake that this work is covered under warranty. Sounds like they are guessing. Not good for the pocket book when the stealer has to guess.
