Well I had my inspection II today wich included the following:

-Valve adjusment
-Sparkplug replacement
-Diff. oil flush and refill with Lt2 Fm booster
-Transmission flush and refill
-Valve cover gasket replace
I also had my new drilled rotors and pads installed.

After the inspection my mechanic told me there was an oil leak.

I have noticed 1-2 drops underneath my car every morning, so it was a concern, but never took it too seriously.

He tells me it is an oil leak from my head gasket and needs to be replaced. He told me its not a huge leak but should be replaced at most 6,000-10,000 miles.

Being that my car is out of warrenty, I post to ask anyone who knows if the 6 yr./100k mile warrenty would cover this. The reason I think it may is because the warrenty covers anything that touches oil, and the head gasket fills that description.

Im hoping to find any information regarding this and any help is very appreciated.

I doubt they will change the gasket for free under 6 year 100k miles engine warranty as this is not a mechanical failure but a call to the dealer or BMWNA will give you the right answer. I think you are going to end up paying for it yourself.
If it was my car I would first make sure it is not coming from somewhere else then check/torque the head bolts to see if it would help.
I know this is not what you wanted to hear but hope it helps.

It would be nice to see it covered. Good luck!

How many miles were on your car and how out of whack were the valves? I just got a price of $600 to adjust them. Not sure if its needed, just wanted to hear your feedback.

Thanks and good luck.

I have 42k. the valves were actually really close to oem.

The guy is a certified mechanic who works for a bmw dealership and did it on his off time for much less then the dealer would charge. He is certain it is the gasket, he showed me with a mirror tool.

We will see, ill keep you guys updated.

The specific language of the extended warranty says, "...for all internal mechanical engine components that are lubricated by engine oil...". Sorry, but a head gasket does not qualify.

The leak is probably NOT the head gasket. Have them clean the back of the block area with some spray brake cleaner. I'd bet $10 that the leak is coming from the "Constant Pressure Valve" pn 11 11 1 318 185 on the exhaust side of the block, right in front of the bellhousing cover plate. It takes about 45 mins to change out on an E46 M3. Part is about $10 I think. I just did mine on my Euro S50 motor and did another on a customer's E46 M3 a few weeks ago. The valve doesn't go bad, only the o-ring that seals it.

I hope you're right. He pointed to me and showed that it was a leak from the head gasket. He used his mirror tool and it was infront of the engine.
