:rolleyes

Well, last night heading home, I'd been putting around town all night at least 5mph under the speed limit, more if conditions called for it. My luck would not hold. Going around a boulevard turn, 10mph hit a patch of black ice and the rear stepped out, i counter steered and slid for what seemed like hours, days even (OK, really about 10-15seconds), staring down my fate. All the while trying to get my car to rotate more, go up the curb backwards hopefully, but no, there was no response from any inputs I could make. I should have got out of the car, grabbed a shovel from the trunk and built up a snow drift in front of the curb to stop the car! I slid at a pretty shallow angle, 2 wheels gently up the curb moving about 5mph (below what the speedo registers) then the bang!...That was not a good sound....

Now another oil pan down, but only a crack/split this time.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. What rubber are you running?

Eeeesh. At that point, you really need hover mode for the black ice.

Anything besides the oil pan take a hit?

I have not inspected closely enough to tell for sure, but I doubt it, i rolled up the curb, didnt get any rash on the wheels and there was not bang untill i tagged the pan.

its too cold to work on a car in your driveway, so i'm going to be taking the bus for a while :redspot

its entirely my fault.

I did not have material to build a skidplate, which would have prevented this mishap. Should have rushed delivery on the alum.

Tracking down an oilpan, and going to install it in one of those heated carwash bays nearby :buttrock

Sorry, man, if it wasn't for bad luck you'd have none at all.

At least it's nice today, right? :) (balmy -8) I was wrestling a Grand Am with a no-start condition all weekend & yesterday, so I sorta feel your pain.
