Does anybody make replacement/upgrade speakers for the 2.5" mid range in the front doors of an e39.
I thought this was included w/ the BSW system... Can it be sold seperately?
Thanks,

That mid is different than the 3-series mid - it's a smaller, DOME, mid.
Your best results are obtained by ditching it and going to a two-way system.
Check with Ron at Installations Unlimited in NJ.

I'm going to a two way component system up front. trying to decide whether I should ditch the 2.5 or not. I've heard the xover is built into the amp and w/o that speaker you loose that frequency range. If thats true removing doesn't really sound like a good option to me.
Didn't know the BSW 2.5" was for the 3 series and won't fit in the 5 series?
Are their even any options to upgrade this speaker?

Not really. Any replacement is really throwing spaghetti at the wall, hoping it works with the other speakers.
Best results, I should have said, are obtained with a 2-channel amp and new F two-way speakers.

The factory 5 series midrange speaker is actually one of the few good speakers BMW has produced, so it's not too big of a deal to leave it in place -- it's the best driver in the car.
We are currently working on a replacement for it. However, we haven't been able to find / make a driver that has the right cost/benefit ratio to replace that speaker at this point.
As Ken said, no real other options exist at this point that match well with the rest of the drivers we offer.
