I have my 1987 325ic at an alarm shop. The battery is being drained and I was worried they installed it incorrectly. There is an intermidant clicking noise under the steer column area. They have narrowed it down to a green 3 wire plug directly behind a green 4 wire plug that has a #12 sticker on it. These are right behind a small silver box which my friend said is the ECU. The 3 wires are brown/blue, red white and brown/yellow (I am going from memory). The clicking is loud enough that I can easily hear it sitting in the passenger seat. It's not continuous either. Sometimes it will click 4 or 5 times, then wait about 5 or 10 seconds, it will click 8 or 9 times, then maybe wait 15 seconds then 2 or 3 times. Just off and on.
Do anybody know what that plug is and what is happening to it? I guess that was what drained my battery down and why the starter wouldn't kick in. I think I read the starter needs at least 8 volts to crank. I'm more concerned with that wire and what's doing.
Thank you.
