I've seen many cars listed in people's profiles, etc that list as "TiAg" or "Hellrot".

I gather that "TiAg" has something to do with Titanium, but confused by the Ag part.

I also gather that "Hellrot" has something to do with the photography/light term for red filters but not sure where the term came from in the BMW world. Was that an actual BMW color name or just a nickname that arose in the enthusiast realm?

Ag is the symbol for silver on the periodic table of the elements. So TiAg stands for Titanium Silver.

Rot is German for red. Not sure about the orgin of the hell if this is the actual german name for the color or not. My 330i is Imola Red which on the plate on the top of the strut tower under the hood is listed as Imolrot (my spelling might be off but you get the gist) So Imolrot is a combination of the name of an Italian road course and the German word for red!

Thanks. Seeing it explained makes me feel dumb. Should have deduced that from the intentional capitalization of the A.

Cool, thanks. Googling, the only references to hellrot that I could find were for camera filters or BMW's.

Anyone care to comment on where the "hell" part comes from? The rest makes perfect sense now.

I could not figure out how to link to another thread but if you search this forum for "hellrot" the third result gives you an explanation.

Found it, thanks. Gotta admin, "Hellrot" sounds a lot meaner than "Bright Red".
